"This is my second trip with Breckenridge Outfitters and Freddy. This year we hit the Colorado River west of Kremmling. It was the perfect day. Temps in the 50's, sunny and no one around. We caught seven. This was only my second time fly fishing and the last one was a year ago. Freddy quickly brought me back up to speed with what he taught me last year. He was patient with someone who has bad habits to break coming from the bass fishing world. He continually checked the hatch and made adjustments throughout the day. I will definitely be back next year."

"I have used Breckenridge Outfitters a number of times over the years and I have never been disappointed, whether it be wading or floating. The guides’ knowledge is amazing and always productive.
The recent trip was to the Dream Stream in early March and the weather was cooperative. It did not take long for Ned, the guide and owner, to locate fish. Within a couple of minutes I had a fish on the line, and landed. Almost immediately I caught a rainbow, brown, cutthroat and cutbow. The great thing about the trip was the effort Ned took to teach me new techniques that will help me long after the guide trip.
In the shop the personnel are knowledgeable and provide suggestions on where to fish and with which flies. I would not go anywhere else in Breckenridge and highly recommend Breckenridge Outfitters to everyone."

Additional Thoughts:He put me in the right location witht he right flies. As I caught 5 fish in 2 hours (lost 3), I watched as 3 other fishermen struggled, and caught no fish. Thank you Ned!
"I had the opportunity to fly fish in Breckenridge over the Thanksgiving Weekend. I arrived late wednesday, and unfortunatey came in too late to get to any local fly shop to get the scoop on the local knowlege. I have not fished CO in almost 20 years and knew little more than what is available to read online.
I emailed Breckennridge outfitters on Tuesday asking for some assisstance but did not expect to hear back in time, as most fly shops are not all that willing to reach out in my experience.
Thankfully, Ned from BO emailed me back and even called me on Wednesday, telling me all that I needed to know. He did so despite knowing that there was probably little in it for him as I would be buying my flies / gear in Dallas.
Ned was INCREDIBLY generous with his time and knowlege. I had an unbelivable fishing experience catching several large trout and good sized Salmon.
I stopped in to see him on Saturday and he was again very helpful as i spent a grand total of $26 with him. He even refused a tip that I tried to give him...
These guys have an assett in their knowlege of where to go and what to do in their respective towns. When coming in from out of state, I often have found store owners to be very protective of this knowledge until there is something in it for them. Ned was nothing like this.
Thank you Ned for your help. I had one of the best times fishing that I have had in many years, and will be returning to your store later this Winter when I come back to test my luck again.
Breckenridge Outfitters is top notch.... as is the fishing on the Blue River!

"We are inexperienced when it comes to fishing in general and decided to try fly fishing with a guide to see if our luck could turn around. John P took us to a remote portion of the Colorado River and he was informative on the surrounding area, history, nature, and most importantly.... the "techniques" of fly fishing. He was extremely patient with us and as a result, we caught two 19" rainbow trout along with 5 or 6 browns each!! We had a awesome time and we will be making this an annual event."

"8/4/12 Fishing Trip-Had a great day, we caught 8 rainbows in the 3 pound range. Our guide JP consistently put our boat on fish all day long! A great day and we will be back to request JP again."

"We were very privileged to have Ned guide us on a wade trip a few years ago on the South Platte. This year was our first float trip, and we chose to have Ned guide us again. He is an exceptionally experienced guide, flyfisherman and entomologist. He knows where the fish are, and he put us on them all day long. His patience is extraodinary, especially with two rookies to the float fishing scene. Thank you to Ned and his team at Breckenridge Outfitters - they are the BEST!! By the way, the lunches are delicious! If you are interested in a guided trip (highly recommended), you won't go wrong by having this team take care of you!"

"This was my first attempt at flyfishing and I am not much of a fisherman to begin with. I wanted to give it a try and Breck Outfitters was most helpful and made sure both my wife and I had an enjoyable trip. It was both enjoyable and successful at that! Our guide John was the best. He was very knowledgeable and literally, within the first half hour we were catching fish. I have to give him credit for his patience too. Along with the fish I also snagged a few trees, sticks, and myself a couple of times. Regardless, I had a great time and for sure will be going again. To anyone considering fly fishing for the first time, I highly recommend taking the full day trip. The time flew by and it was worth every penny. A half day would not have been enough for a beginner."

"We stopped at the Orvis store to order a duffle bag, I noticed the fly fishing information on the counter and just on a fluke my husband and I signed up for a fly fishing trip. The day that was available happened to also be my birthday. I could not have imagined a more perfect way to spend my birthday. Keith took great patience to help my husband fix his casting habits into fly fishing form. I had never fly fished before and Keith was great with helping me understand the river and what to look for, watching the bugs above the water for different signs, instructing me on the line, casting and teaching me the three P’s. We had a wonderful day and even as a beginner I caught fish. We will be back and we will find Keith to take us again. Thanks Ned for setting us up."

"Recently we booked a trip with a couple Florida warm blooded first timers for Colorado Trout, in October. Scott our guide was extremely knowledgeable and got us onto fish quickly. He taught casting and reading the water for the "newbies" that was easy to learn and nonthreatening. Each of the two first timers hooked into fish early and often, landing a nice Brown and several smaller Rainbows. Catching fish in CO waters is challenging enough for first timers, what made this trip more impressive is that the first timers hooked into fish all day on the Dream Stream. Tough water with finicky fish. Thanks Scott and Breckenridge Outfitters for a great experience on one of CO's most beautiful and challenging streams. The 16+ inch Cut at the end was icing on the cake."

"From start to finish, had a great experience! Ned, JP & Patrick were great in the shop and got me all the right stuff for my new adventures.
On the water Boston George was a wealth of knowledge and experience, I hope to retain just part of what he taught me... Hooked me to this sport for life.

"This was the second trip I did with Breckenridge Outfitters this year and I couldn't be happier. For starters, Ned and everyone in the shop are proactive, checking in with you before you arrive, so there is minimal delay on the days you go fishing. The shop is also well-stocked and laid out.
As for the guides, all my experiences have been good. Fishing with JP for two days in late June was really good, despite the low, high temperature water. He knew right where to go and what to use. While it wasn't a "huge" set of days for fish, JP taught us a lot and kept us entertained with his stories and local knowledge.
Returning in September, I fished with both JP and Mike. First of all, the water was colder and the fish more active. On the first day, my wife and I fished with JP. She immediately felt at ease with him and appreciated both his support (literally and figuratively), his tips, and the conversation. I too learned more on that trip and we both caught a lot of trout!
The second day I fished with Mike. He also taught me a lot and was very relaxed and friendly. The highlight of the day was when he positioned me by a particular ledge, where I ended up catching 5 trout (and 2 near misses) in less than an hour! It was great!
As an adjunct to the fishing, the lunches were great -- a good variety of food and very fresh. If anything, they were too big, but still very tasty.
Each time I have fished with Breckenridge Outfitters I have had an enjoyable time, learned a lot, and felt comfortable (a big deal when you only go out once or twice a year and you forget a lot). I will definitely return!"

"I came to Breckenridge for a conference and knew I wanted to get some fishing in so I brought my spinning rod, not knowing that fly fishing was the way to go. I found this out when I went to a different angling ship in Breckenridge and received a snobbish "I only fly fish". A couple of guys at the conference had booked the trip and offered to let me tag along. I had a blast. It was my first time fly fishing and Scott was really helpful, the location was gorgeous, and the lunch that was provided us was exceptional. Everyone at the shop was so nice and helpful. Needless to say, I'm hooked. I hope to get a little fly fishing in the next time I make a trip to the mainland."

"I went fishing wuith Breckenridge Outfitters as part of a 11 man group. There were first time fisherman and well as seasoned fisherman and everything in the middle. The instructional part of the trip was exceptional and our guide put us on the fish. It was first classs operation from the moment we stepped in the shop to get fitted for waiters. Zero complaints and would highly recommnend this shop to anyone!!"

"Our group decided to come to Breckenridge for our 9th annual fly fishing trip. We've previously fished at Big Sky (3X), Jackson Hole, Durango (2X), Sun Valley, and Burlington. The local Outfitter was exceptional to work with in describing the different venues available and customizing the trips to the levels of angler experience. During the four days that people fished, the Outfitter was overwhelmingly accommodating in picking up anglers at their hotels and returning them while having all the equipment ready ahead of time. Finally, all 17 anglers enjoyed their experience on the local rivers and with the Outfitter."
