"This was my first trip to the Bozeman area to fly-fish. I have read and heard it is a great location for all types of fly fishing. I was not disappointed one bit. My guide was Steven Rendle, who over the course of the day I got to know very well. He is a bright young man willing to teach and explain all of the attributes of the Madison.
We started out the morning on the Lower Madison and we had plenty of company. I counted at least 12 boats launching from the same spot. I was a little concerned with all of the traffic, but Steve explained we would have plenty of chances. We let the other boats move on down stream as we talked about what the day would bring. I don’t recall having any issues the entire day with traffic; it was if we were on the river all alone.
I was able to land two 21 inch rainbows, which were absolutely gorgeous. I also had too big hits which I was unable to land, but it was worth the trip to know there are some big boys in there. Steven made sure we worked an area and if we had a few hits, we went back up and tried it again.
I do not get out as often as I want, so when I do I want to get the most fishing in that I can. I typically hire the local guides to help me achieve the best chance of catching a fish. I have to say Steven did an outstanding job and has a bright future in the guiding service. He is very personable and will not disappoint you.

"Charlie Napoli was our guide and was a very hard worker, and helped us catch fish. He had a great sense of humor and was just fun to spend that day with. I would definitely go again with this outfit and Charlie if available."

"We do a self guided MT trip every year this year we decided to finish the trip up with a float. We floated the lower Madison with Charlie and Paul from Fins And Feathers and man did we have a great time. There was three of us we took two boats had mixed skill levels me and my wife were on one boat and the guides were exteamly patient and helpful i will definately fish with them again"

Additional Thoughts:We did not get to fly shop because we were Toby at Fort Smith, Mt.
"Toby Swank guided two of us for 3 days on the Big Horn and did a superb job. He was personable, hard working, and probably one of the best guides we ever had. He got us on a lot of fish every day using both drys and nymphs. We both floated and waded. If things were not working or fish stopped taking what we were using, he was not afraid to change what we were using or doing. Toby knew the river very well. Toby was also very helpful in planning our trip by suggesting a great place to stay and sending us a list of items to bring on the trip. We certainly would use Toby again."

"When working on my Boy Scout Fishing merit badge, I caught a trout on a dry fly. Now, 74 years old, I caught my largest "Brown 21", on my tied hopper. The same day I caught a 18" rainbow on the guides nymph. Catching a fish on my own tied fly adds tremendously to the experience.

"I have fished with 30 guides or so in different parts of the country and can tell you Toby provides a fishing experience like no other. I have taken my 8 year old and 16 year old boys with Toby, my wife, and probably 10 beer drinking bass fisherman as well as a few real anglers and each one has come away with memories that will last a lifetime. Lots of fish, lots of laughs, some sage advice for the youngsters and a true Montana experience."

Additional Thoughts:All of folks associate with this shop are FIRST CLASS
"This was my fourth summer to fish with Toby in the Bozeman area; in addition I have fished on the Missouri in May the past two years with Toby. Easy to describe Fin and Feathers - "One of the Best". Toby is one of the hardest working guides I have ever fished with; if you don't catch fish, it is not because Toby did not try. My trip this year included my 15 year old grandson. Toby went out of his way to make sure he had a good trip and he did. Last year I took seven of my friends to Bozeman, we used three other guides - all of whom I would recommend highly. Last words - "ONE OF THE BEST"
PS - if you are into fly tying you will find a super supply of materials in his shop."

"Great trip! We had a lodging package at the Wyndham Hotel that was set by F & F. The guide (Paul) was attentive, worked hard and gave a full days+ effort to get us on fish. People at the shop were courteous throughout, from the first call to inquire to making sure they talked with us about our trip after the fishing was done. Highly recommend F & F to anyone visiting Bozeman."

"While travelling through the Bozeman, MT area, I called this shop to get directions (as an authorized Orvis Dealer) even though the name didn't give me confidence that they were a righteous fly fishing mecca. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a very well stocked shop, knowledgeable staff who were very helpful. I ended up purchasing a 5 wt. Helios rod, a Hydros reel (with line) and a CFO II reel (and line) for another rod. I tried out the rods, line was put on and all was done with a smile!"
