"I have been fishing with Brown twice and have been more than impressed on both trips. I was excited to have a guide close to my age, mid-twenties, who had enough experience to teach a novice. The first trip I booked was with my younger brother. We both required extensive instruction and he never lost patience. It was a very successful fishing trip and the conversation came easily. He was able to relate to my younger brother in college and never missed a beat. I took my 83 year old grandfather on the second trip and don't think it could have gone any better. We again hit the fish pretty hard. My grandfather has been flyfishing for a while and did not need the same instruction I did. Brown did a good job of handling two different stages of fishermen on the boat. My grandfather was most impressed with Brown's knowledge of the river and surrounding areas. He graduated from Sewanee with a background in geology and environmental studies. It was pretty cool to learn more about the river we were fishing! I definitely recommend booking through him and will certainly be going back. He even keeps a blog with current fishing conditions on his website!"

"Brown, is an excellent guide. I received a half day trip as a present. Brown was very personable, and has a very patient demeanor. He took me an advanced beginner and really improved my skills while catching fish. I have had other guides, but this was the best. Kept the trip focused,and we kept getting fish. The time flew. I enjoyed the whole time and I immediately booked two other trips. I would strongly recommend to all levels as he is also a very good fisherman."

"We had a great young 28 year old guide that was very patient, very helpful with his instructions to two old sixty year old fat men that he had to take care of all day. Brown had a great personality, along with helpful instructions that lead to a very productive day of fishing. We were catching fish all day long and ever caught two fish on same rod. Very nice young guide."

"I have been fishing with Brown now for four trips, two wade and two float trips down the Watauga river in TN. Each one has been excellent and very enjoyable. Brown has an excellent demeanor and his main mission is to make sure you have a good time and catch fish. He is very knowledgeable and knows where the fish are and is actively changing stuff to figure out what they are eating. The result is that you catch fish with him and have fun doing it. I would highly recommend him to anyone and plan to fish with him many more times."

"As first time fly fisherman, my son and I were a little apprenhensive about our first fly fishing trip. But only after a few minutes with Brown, we were very at ease in the water. Brown has great patience and is very wiiling to take the time to teach you. He did a great job explaining where we were going and how we were going to fish, Brown answered all of our questions and stayed calm after numerous snags and hang up. I would highly recommend Brown to any one and plan on going back with my wife"

"Brown took me along with a second time fly fisher to a stream you would have thought with all the traffic would be a limited catch and we landed several large Rainbow and Brown trout. It was a great day and Brown showed he knows his stuff."

"I followed up on a recommendation from a fellow member of our local TU chapter and hired Brown for a (very cold) day of fishing on the Pigeon.
I have been fishing for a long time and I am not such an old dog that I can't learn a thing or two...Brown was an excellent guide; got me on the fish and taught me a bit more than I knew when I got up that morning. For anyone heading into the western NC area looking for a guide with knowledge, patience and a good sense of humor, Brown's your man! I also wish his wife well in finishing up her teaching courses."

"Just got back from our second guided fishing trip with Brown. Both of our experiences were exceptional. Brown is an excellent guide and great person to be around. I know the trips were not the norm but we caught and released over 150 fish combined in two trips. My son had never fly fished before but after a short lesson and a few tips along the way, he caught as many as I did. Very much looking forward to another trip."

"I took my 15 year old nephew fly fishing. This was the first time either of us had gone. Brown made the experience great. He was able to break everything down to where we could learn the basics and get some education about fishing and all in the right amount of doses. It was difficult learning in 20 degree weather, but he made the experience great!"

"My grandson and I are novice fly fishermen and have tried to catch fish on our own several times with none being caught. We went with Brown yesterday and within a couple of hours we were both catching and netting our own fish. Brown obviously knows where to go, how to rig the right fly and weights for the conditions and gives excellent instruction. My grandson went to bed last night telling my daughter that 17 was his favorite number (the number of fish that he caught), as he drifted off to sleep thinking of fish."

"Brown took my friend and me on a float trip of the So. Holston River, in Bristol, Tennessee on a cold pre-spring day. Although fishing conditions were less than ideal, we landed several wild fish including some truly large ones. Brown was cordial, knowledgeable and enjoyable to be with. I'd recommend his services without reservation."
