"Chris has established a long over-due quality lodge, restaurant, fly shop, and guide service at a reasonable price. Our room had a private patio that opened directly onto the San Juan River. The room was large and clean and comfortable. The food is excellent and is prepared by a talented chef. Chris knows the river too. Check out Fisheads San Juan River Lodge before you book anywhere else. You won't regret it! By the way, it is located on the river in the middle of the community of Navajo Dam."

"My son and I (relative Rookies at Fly Fishing)scheduled this trip based on a recommendation from a friend. Our full day float-trip was Wonderful experience with us actually being in the boat half the day and wading-fishing the other half. Our guide (Mike) not only put us on a lot of trout but he spent a LOT of time teaching and improving our casting and fishing techniques. We were very happy about the trip and we were better fishermen when we left. The food, fly shop, and hospitality were #1 in my book!!!"

"The overall experience at Fisheads was excellent. I was amazed at how good the food was at the cafe. The accommodations are OK for a fishing trip. The bathroom needs a vent to remove moisture and odors. Our guide - Tanner - was great considering the conditions were 20-30 degrees with wind between 10-30 mph. We were a week early as the weather the following week warmed up to the 70's."

"I have fly fished sporadically for over 35 years,but fisheads has me hooked(sorry!) I can't say enough about how professional the whole experience is. Chris, Mike, and Marcus most recently have all provided great times as our guides.
Peggy takes the time to explain the unique approach to rigging your set-up for fishing this area as do the guides as well. Bought my new Helios at a screaming price and Peggy made sure I got it out the first morning. The 4 wt 9ft was a dream and plenty strong to get me out there"

"The service is excellent and the staff is knowledgeable. The food is very good with large portions. If you haven't fished from a drift boat this is great place to learn, the guides are patient and willing to teach you. Lot of fish and chance for 20" plus."

"Every thing about this place was great except one of the guides(Bubba).He showed up half awake,didn't speak for the first hour and was in a hurry to get finished for the day. If you are going to get a guide I would recommend Chris or Marcus."

"My wife and I went on a half day guided trip and it was just the best fishing trip I've ever been on. We highly recommend Phillip as your guide, he was just great. The food and lodging were wonderful. All the people were very helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. I've been fishing all my life and this was the best fishing experience I've ever had. "We've had the privilege of staying at both Fisheads places. In July we stayed at the main lodge which we thought was cozy, welcoming and very clean! When we made plans on going back in September we decided to stay at their other lodge, (Fisheads Quality Water Lodge) which is right alongside the river. The back door view of the river is breathtaking and the rooms were really nice and had a kitchenette! This is our new favorite place to stay! We've already made reservations to stay there again in November! The folks at Fisheads are truly wonderful, friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place!!"

"My wife wanted further her education in the art of Fly fishing. So last spring June we went for a couple of days Even though the water was changing our guide found the active fish and we ended up with a great time fishing. The staff was very accomidating and the food was very good. I would recommend fishheads to any fishhead looking for a great time"

"It was awesome!!! This was the first guided trip I took in my entire life and I wanted to do it with my wife on our wedding anniversary. Bubba was very profesional, knowledgable, and patient. It was mife wife's first time fly fishing and Bubba made sure my wife felt comfortable and was not pressured. It was well worth the 7 hour trip from El Paso.

"We had a great first experience on the San Juan River with Fishheads Guide Service. We heard Labor Day weekend is a tough time to fish the San Juan but thanks to our guides, Bubba and Phil, we caught plenty of large trout. The accomadations were nice as will. Thanks for a terrific experience."

"I hosted some of my clients and colleges at Fishheads for 2days/3nights of fly fishing and everyone had an awesome time. Bubba, Peggy, and Chris did a outstanding job. All the guides were fun and experienced and we all caught a lot of fish. Fifty percent of our group had never fly fished before. The boat I was in landed 16 quality fish, 18” plus and 28, 12” to 16” fish in the lower river. We had a contest for the most fish so we went to the lower river to catch quantity verses quality. The second day we had 12 quality fish 18” plus fish and 54, 12” to 16” fish. The largest fish in our group was 25” rainbow. The food was super. We had prime rib one day and it unbelievable, Bubba is a great chief and host! Chris set us up in our own area in the back so we could dine by ourselves, we had 16 people. Thanks to everyone my our score is 10 for 10 and we will be back!"

"Bubba was the greatest. Allowed my son and I to use Dries all day! Lots of friendly banter all day. Tough fishin after the flush but we found the fish anyway. Thanks again for a marvelous fishin float, will do it again next year!"

"This was my first time fly fishing and Bubba was so helpful, patient and really knew his stuff...and he didn't shoot me when I was taking in the scenery and missed what was likely the biggest strike of the day. I'll never hear the end of it from my brother-in-law. Thanks for putting us on so many nice fish Bubba.We look forward to doing this again; hopefully in Nov."
