"I would highly recommend this plantation to anyone looking for the utimate quail hunting experience. I enjoyed everything about this place. The guides are super nice guys, that strive to make this hunt the best it can be for their clients. And then there's the food. All I can say, is be prepared to eat the finest meals ever on a hunt. "Being from the Midwest, it was a treat to experience southern hospitality at its finest. The food could not have been better nor the hunting experience finer. "I had heard about this lodge for a few years and wanted to give it a shot. We had very high expectations, which was why we may have been slightly disappointed.

The food was awesome. I can't complain at all about that. Great southern cuisine.

The lodging...left a little to be desired. There were only 2 cabins at the place and the rest of the lodging was hotel style down a long hall. Most of the other places we have hunted were all cabins and that is what we expected.

The guides and staff were pretty friendly, but not over the top service oriented. Not awful by any stretch, just not what we expected.

We didn't see that many birds the first hunt, but the second hunt seemed a lot better for everyone. They were good flying birds, and the dogs were awesome so the overall hunting experience was above average. Would have been excellent if we had seen more the first hunt."

"Our Quail Hunting Trip was by far the best hunting experience that i think i've ever had. The guides and their dogs were great. They were very helpful and went out of their way to make the hunt very enjoyable. The hospitality at the Lodge was great.The rooms were clean and very comfortable and the meals were unbelievably great. Our compliments to the chefs and everyone there. "I am in the firearms industry. A by-product of being in the industry is lots of hunting. Rio Piedra changed my expectations of what a trip should be like. Fantastic hunting, wonderful guides and dogs, plentiful birds. What more could you ask for? The bar was well stock, and the cigar selection that week was very tasteful. If anything the lunch was too wonderful. Maybe even a tad heavy. I would have asked for cold cuts had it been my trip. Our guide Blake, was young and full of energy. His dog handling was excellent and he was committed to making sure the clients had a fantastic hunt. The Rio Piedra Plantation brings back that Old South feeling that I long for in my travels."

Additional Thoughts:Both were great. Really impressed with Davids dogs, but I'm partial to setters. Davids Lab was really inpressive. Best part of the hunt is watching great dogs work.

"This is my 3rd year to visit Rio Piedra. I have been to many other lodges and without a doubt this is the best by far. The facilities and accomodations are second to none and the staff is both professional and friendly. The fact that Annie and Bill are very involved makes a huge difference. The food is outstanding and offers a great variety for all dietary needs. The guides are very good and patient for any level of hunter. I especially want to mention Bo Taylor, who would be a pretty good role model for guides anywhere. His dog handling skills are especially good. Without question, Rio Piedra absolutely offers the epitome of the quail hunting experience."
