"This was my first "real" pheasant shoot with some very experienced dudes. Despite my first-timer status, the 3-day trip could not have been more enjoyable. Kyle and his team are incredibly professional and personable -- just great attitudes all around. We covered 12 miles a day walking pristine territory. The dogs were tireless and just awesome. I'm looking forward to 2014."

"I had been out five days before Christmas 2013 in eastern Colorado and into Kansas. We saw a dozen hens and about three roosters. My dog is about five and being discouraged called my wife. We knew of OCA through a family connection and she called Kyle and booked a trip for myself and my dog. It was the most amazing bird hunt. Roosters up constantly and my dog went ballistic working with Kyle's dogs. He did not get out of bed for two days after and he is in great shape. I will go back next year and take friends. The hospitality was amazing. We stayed at the bed and breakfast in town and they were great also. If you love bird hunting and great hospitality, you will go also."

Additional Thoughts:Kyle is a great guy
"I recently moved back to Colorado from out East and spent a good deal of time trying to find somewhere to hunt my pointer. Finding birds in Eastern Colorado and Kansas was a bust. A friend recommended I contact Kyle out at OCA. My first trip out was beyond expectations. The cover was great and the bird count was amazing. As a result, I made three more trips out on weekends over the season. I would typically limit out after a few hours and then spend the rest of the time with Kyle working my dog for fun. From start to finish OCA is a great experience and I would (and have) recommended them to all my friends that enjoy hunting pheasant. Incidentally, my pointer is now Kyle’s biggest fan, and for good reason. I will be back out next year every time I get the chance."

"My son and I hunted with OCA five or six days last year in two trips. Tremendous all-around experience. OCA is located north of Imperial which is a thriving town of ~2000 in SW Nebraska inc good lodging and restaurants. The area is a very productive agricultural area approx 3 hrs from Denver. OCA is on a very large ranch which is managed for wild birds. I am VERY careful about the people I hunt with bc time off work doesn't come often. The people at OCA are the best. I have my own dogs, which are welcomed, but the german shorthairs from OCA are very good. We will be going back this year. I highly recommend."

"Three hunts with OCA in 4 years. The hunt gets better every year. The guides, birds, fields and facilities are first class. Alicia takes care of everything leading up to the hunt including licenses, lodging and receipt of equipment and guns. Kyle and the dogs are ready to go bright and early and never stop until we do! Evenings are for relaxing and enjoying a good laugh about the days events. Every day we are hunting a new fields and always enjoy the varying topography. I've already book my fourth hunt!. I've hunted Europe, South America and all over North America and I come back to OCA each year."

Additional Thoughts:Spectacular guide. He put us on the birds and really enjoyed our time together. He made the hunt fun!
"From the get-go, our time at the Wine Glass Ranch was spectacular! Manager, Kyle Wagner, went out of his way to provide us with was perhaps the best hunting trip I've ever been on. He set us up with a phenomenal guide, Adam, and top of the line German Shorthairs (plus one awesome black lab) and we ended up with 37 birds. I was so thankful for the way they treated us; especially my 10 year old nephew who shot his first bird on! Thank you Wine Glass Ranch for an amazing experience and for treating us like family. We will definitely be back!"

Additional Thoughts:Professional, friendly, accomodating
"November 2013 was our second trip to Imperial, NE to hunt with Open Country Adventures. I figured there was no way we could have a better experience than our first year, but I was wrong. This place just keeps getting better. The guides put us on the birds consistently and the dogs were tight and efficient. Loads of wild pheasants in various settings and more quail than expected and without looking...a pleasant surprise! Updates to the ranch, full service kitchen serving up homestyle meals, fire pits, a fresh bottle of rum every time I turned around...what more could you want! I highly recommend this outfit and am looking forward to going back!"

Additional Thoughts:Customer service at OCA is incredible. Kyle and the team really get it.
"We completely enjoyed a two day hunt during October 2013. Our GSP's at times weren't sure whether to complete the current retrieve or point the next rooster(s) they'd scented on the way back. Kyle and the entire crew were like family, and we couldn't have hoped for more in any aspect of our stay with Open Country Adventures. Pull the trigger on this hunt, you won't regret it! We're on our way back for a final hunt during March 2014 and will be back next fall."

Additional Thoughts:Very personnable and knowledgeable. Understands land and habitat managment. Expert dog handler. Knows guns. Kyl understands how to satisfy clients and keep them coming back.
"We have been to the Open Country Adventures twice, Dec 2013 and March 2014. Both two day experiences were terrific. Kyle Waggoner is an exceptional guide and host. He is very professional and the arrangements are handled perfectly. The facilities are first rate. He manages lots of land with excellent cover. We had plenty of shooting opportunities at natural roosters. He used five dogs on our trips, all outstanding and fun to work with. OCA had us stay at a B&B The Balcony House in Imperial NE, which is a lovely property, run by a very friendly and accomodating couple. Kyle is an accomplished chef and he cooked for us each lunch and we had dinner with he and his family one night. It is great hunting country, we had two beautiful days in mid March. December was cold, but we had fun anyway. OCA is operated at very high standards for customer experience and satisfaction. We have booked an October hunt for this Fall. Would recommend Kyle and OCA without qualification."

"Open Country Adventures is a first class outfitter.
Excellent habitat, great guide and dogs, plenty of birds, excellent food and lodging.
As good as the hunting was in a year with poor pheasant production throughout the region, I can't imagine what a normal year would be like!
The pheasant hunting was as good or better than any place I have hunted in Kansas, Montana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska and Colorado.
Even a guy with a broken leg can shoot at plenty of birds here! Plus, it is a short 3.5 hour drive from Denver.
We have already booked for next year."
