Additional Thoughts:See you in 2015!
"My wife and I have been going to Western fishing lodges since 1990 and MVR is simply the best. A really good lodge excels in so much more than a great river, which the Madison certainly is. MVR provided outstanding service( airport pickup for ex.) top-notch cuisine that rivals LA restaurants, liberal beer/wine of high quality, super comfortable accommodations and perfect guides. Dinner is family style seating which provides a very conversational meal. Each nights menu(printed, of course)was superbly prepared and appropriately portioned. Of course the floating on the Madison is great but one can also wade fish the "braids" in solitude after a 15 minute walk from the lodge. Another great touch: MVR supplies waders so you can leave that bulky item at home! The people who work for the lodge are incredibly upbeat, a real bonus. Our guide (Chris) was so knowledgeable and patient. In summary, MVR provided the best fly fishing lodge experience in 25 years."

Additional Thoughts:Dave is a knowledgeable guide and teacher who obviously enjoys what he's doing. He is patient with those of us who are less experienced.
"This was the 7th visit to Madison Valley Ranch for my husband, daughter, son-in-law and me. We are always sad to leave at the end of the week and spend all year looking forward to returning. MVR never disappoints; each visit is perfect in every way. Elizabeth Warren has become a dear friend who warmly welcomes us and every guest and makes everyone feel at home. She handles every aspect of MVR cheerfully and professionally. We enjoy the opportunity to get to know other guests during the cocktail time and at meals. Scott Warren is an incredible gourmet chef who makes each breakfast and dinner a delicious experience. Our days on the river are wonderful and beautiful. Dave Evans has been our guide all 7 years, and we check his availability before we make our reservations. He is an outstanding guide who gets as excited over our catching fish as we do. Madison Valley Ranch is very special to us, and we can't imagine a finer place to be."

"From the time you make your reservation, to the time you return home, you are treated like no one else matters. What sets MVR apart from others is their warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care for each of their guests. The Madison river is not only a productive and healthy river, but also enjoys beautiful scenery. The guide troupe are as professional as you can find, the lodge staff are attentive and talented, the chef exceeds expectations, and the accommodations are very appropriate. The rainbow and brown were very cooperative yet let you know you were in their hometown. We'll return soon. Experienced or beginner, you'll have a very rewarding experience."

"MVR has become a tradition for me,my wife and in-laws. We have been to the ranch 7 times since 2005 and it seems to get better each time. Elizabeth Warren sets the standard for hostessing and her husband Scott takes food to a whole new level. The ranch staff treats you like family and have a way of making you feel at home. The guides are professional, personable and and work hard to make it the best fishing experience possible. You can't go wrong with the Madison Valley Ranch!"

Additional Thoughts:Garrett is also the head guide at a Patagonia fly fishing ranch and is absolutely terrific.
"My husband turned 65 this year and to celebrate, he chose a week-long trip to the Madison Valley Ranch. He's a very experienced fisherman but I'm fairly new and had never fished from a drift boat. In fact, I told my husband that I probably wouldn't fish every day and even then, maybe only half days. What a revelation! Such outstanding natural beauty, such exciting fishing, such a terrific guide- I fished every day all day and caught quite a creditable number of big, fat, healthy fish every day, too. The ranch is a dream. wonderful accommodations, fabulous food- the chef is a genius- and the warmest, most gracious hostess we've ever encountered. Our expert fishing friends were agog at the fish photos we brought home, and all my non-fishing friends want to take up the sport once they heard about this amazing ranch experience. Thank you Madison Valley Ranch for cementing my love of fly fishing."

Additional Thoughts:Scott took care of the newbies
"This is my second time to MVR and what can I say the team outdid themselves again. From the moment we arrived to the morning we left we were made to feel at home. Our group had two guests new to fly fishing and Elizabeth paired them with a guide who became their friend and teacher. As for myself I was fortunate to catch some of the most beautiful browns each day. MVR prides itself on taking care of the guest no matter what your Fly fishing experience is and they do. First class staff starting with Elizabeth and her team. First class accommodations, with gourmet meals each day. I hope another trip is in my future at the MVR"

Additional Thoughts:Can't go wrong and fall is a great time ot be on the Madison
"I consider myself a regular at Madison Valley Ranch. I have been visiting the Ranch since the late 90’s but this fall’s trip was special for me; my three older brothers joined in for a long weekend of fishing. Elizabeth, Scott and the whole staff made sure our trip was perfect. I’m thrilled by that because it took years to align everyone’s schedule to do this. Elizabeth welcomed my brothers like family and when one of us had flight issues she even made arrangement to overcome that and keep our fishing trip on track.
The Ranch is a very special place to me. They really have everything that you need for a great fishing experience. The guides are awesome and they really work hard for you (especially with beginning fly fishermen like my brothers). The accommodations are warm, inviting and very comfortable and in a location that is beautiful with plenty of great water fish. The cuisine is beyond great and the staff and service is fantastic. This is what makes MVR the place I keep coming back to.
My brothers loved the Ranch so much that we agreed next year we are going to do this again and stay longer (that’s fair warning Elizabeth). It is a wonderful place to get together and make memories.

Additional Thoughts:Very experienced and committed to meeting our needs
"Each year my son and I go on a fly fishing trip together. This year was our sixth tripand we chose Madison Valley Ranch. It has been by far the best lodge experience we have had in all our trips. The fishing was also fantastic but the attention to detail and friendliness of Elizabeth and the rest of the lodge personnel was extrodinary. The opportunity to meet other lodge guest really made our vacation special and the day fishing complete. The guide service was also outstanding with great attention paid to our specific needs. The beauty of the Madison River and Yellowstone river was second to none. All in all we will defintely return to this location in the future."

Additional Thoughts:From MVR you can fish the Madison, Yellowstone, Big Hole, Beaverhead, Ruby, Jefferson, and the spring creeks near Livingston.
"I have fished in Alaska, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, and all over Montana but MVR is home and my favorite place to fish. The lodge is well placed next to the Madison River, the food is excellent, the fellow fishermen are always interesting, but most of all Elizabeth and Scott Warren make me and my family feel at home. They have become family. No other place can compare."

"My 16 year old son and I traveled to the Madison Valley Ranch near Ennis Montana in mid-July, 2014. We were sold on MVR based on its reviews and on our initial phone discussions with the lodge manager, Elizabeth Warren.
Upon arrival, we were even more impressed -- the lodge is on a beautiful piece of property, very close to the "Channels" section of the Madison River, which you should wade fish if you can. It's beautiful in there. There is also a pond on the property with very large trout -- the perfect place to practice.
The lodge itself is clean and well-maintained. The beds are comfortable, and the service is perfect. The dining room serves 20 plus, and the kitchen next door, run by Elizabeth's husband Scott, turns out incredibly delicious breakfasts and dinners.
Now to the fishing: It was amazing. We were on a drift boat for four days, fishing different sections of the Madison each time, with some sections overlapping with portions of others. Each sectioned offered unique turns and waters on the Madison. Our favorite guides were Brandon, Charlie and Joe. On one day, with Joe, we brought 58 fish into the boat, with numerous beautiful rainbows and browns in the 16-20 inch range. But every day was great and we learned a lot about fly fishing while working this world famous trout fishery. We also enjoyed stopping by the Bear Tooth Fly Shop on our way out every morning.
But no review of the MVR would be complete without highlighting the energy and enthusiasm of lodge manager Elizabeth Warren. She's terrific. Her entire focus is on making sure you are happy. If there is anything she can do to improve your experience, she's on it, and she mingles with guests in the evening, handing out drinks and delivering food as she goes.
All in all, this is simply a great lodge in a great part of our country on a world famous trout river. You should go. We can't wait to return."

Even though I've only been once, my wife and I were greeted as if we were life long friends.
Can't adequately describe how truly amazing the entire trip was. From the GREAT staff, wonderful food, very patient guides :-), and incredible natural scenery.
We will both absolutely return to MVR!

Additional Thoughts:All guides we had were excellent.
"Took my wife and 3 sons (ages 9-14) to MVR for 3 nights, as part of a weeklong trip to MT. Fantastic time! Fished the Madison for two days, in two boats. Fishing was excellent, guides were great and very patient with the kids. The boys enjoyed fishing on the lodge's trout pond for practice. The lodge is very comfortable, the food excellent, and best of all is the service. Elizabeth, the lodge manager, is great, super friendly and very knowledgeable about the fishing opportunities and other activities available. Something for everyone here - my wife was out for her morning run prior to breakfast. Very close to Ennis to walk around town. The kids were asking when we could return to Montana after our arrival home. Would return to MVR without hesitation."

"This is the perfect place to experience Montana fly fishing. The guides are excellent and the services are tremendous. Gourmet food, served in a congenial setting.
Each evening deer file into surrounding fields. Geese and sandhill cranes flock into the same fields. My wife an I spotted moose twice. It was like a game preserve. The staff there is super.
