The Gunnison River is a superb Colorado gold medal fishery from the upstream boundary of the Black Canyon National Park though the Gunnison Gorge to the confluence of the North Fork of the Gunnison. Gunnison River Expeditions specializes in full guided one- to- three-day float fishing, walk/wade, and whitewater trips though this section of the river.

Additional Thoughts:a great guide working for a bad company
"First, our guide was outstanding and is not to blame for anything that follows. Need to hike down to the river. Get there, July 12, 2014, and river is pea soup green with perhaps 12 inch visibility. Guide thought that this was not run-off and almost certainly temporary. Floated Day 1 and did not see a fish. Guide made superb camp/dinner, and hoped tomorrow would be clear. Day 2, river was worse, with 6 inch visibility. By early afternoon, when not a fish had been seen and river was not improving, Guide agreed that converting from the planned 3-day trip to 2-days made sense, and rowed hard to get us to take-out that afternoon. While I felt that the trip should never had been started given the sad state of the river, I asked the outfitter for a refund of 1 day, since it had been a 2, not 3-day trip. He seemed to think that was fair. Then, two weeks later, he sent me an email saying the best he could do was, next year, give me a 3-day trip for the price of a 2-day trip. Yeah, right."
