"I was a little surprised when I first received the shirt - I wasn't sure what the nailhead-weave would look like. It is much more textured than I thought. I followed the instructions and washed it first before wearing. It came out great - no ironing, and the color mellowed and softened. The nailhead weave provides a rich, soft texture. Definitely a keeper."

"While the catalogue does state that the shirt is a cotton/nylon blend it is 70% silk and 30% cotton and does not look anything like the picture which has an all cotton look to it. It is a very nice shirt, but for that price, I probably will be returning it, as it was not what I thought I was getting."

"Technology has come a long ways as far as material used in shirts. The shirt is stylish and quite frankly fexlible with my wardrobe,i.e. suit and tie, Sports Jacket, with this shirt and a tie, and with the latter, I can opt for dress shoes or my cowboy boots.
I love silk material but the combination of silk and cotton is an unique concept.
I will look forward to more of the same quality."

"I just bought this shirt and I love it!
Yes, the colour seems different to what I recall when I first saw it on the shelf at the Orvis Shop. It seems more denim blue now, rather than the washed out grey/blue in the picture.
I absolutely LOVE the nailhead weave pattern - I had some jeans like this and really liked the slightly two-tone effect. Wish more things were made of this!
Size is true to fit, i.e. you don't need to order a larger size. Being mainly silk, it is also unlikely to shrink, as some cotton shirts do.
Also, silk keeps fresher for longer - and dries quickly - so an ideal shirt for travelling.
Can't comment on the durability of the cuffs. I know tis was an issue with some reviewers. I assume it's been addressed by Orvis in the current batch. If not, I'm sure they'd replace it any such problems were to recur.
All in all, a lovely, well-made and distinctive shirt!"

When the shirt arrived it looked different then what was pictured in the catelog. The label said wash a few times before using, because washing will change the color of the shirt......

"This product is completely misrepresented in the catalog. The color, weave, and texture of the shirt are not even close to the photo in the catalogue. I am returning it to Orvis. Unfortunately, this will cost me another $6.95, on top of the $12+ in shippin I have already paid. Suffice it to say that this will be my last purchase from Orvis."

"Like some of the other reviewers my shirt has more or less fallen apart after 3 or 4 washes. The material has come away from the cuffs and has split right across the back along a seam line. This simply is not good enough for a shirt of this price and I'm amazed Orvis are still selling it after the reviews below. I'm now sceptical of the quality of their other garments. Do not buy this product as you are throwing money down the drain"

"I had the same problem as another reviewer. After about 3-4 wears, the cuff came apart from the shirt. The material is a loose woven fabric and therefore the material needs to be reinforced better into the cuff.
Otherwise, the shirt looks and feels great. I wear a large in some shirts, but the medium fit me great.
I contacted Orvis with the problem and requested a replacement for this one. Orvis was great about it and do stand behind their products.
Just beware of the cuff problem."

"Nice looking shirt and the material is very comfortable. Sizing is a little big. Medium is equal to most other shirts large.
Problem with the shirt was after 4 washings, the cuffs seperated from the sleeves.
For the price of this shirt that's definitely not a good value and not up to the usual Orvis quality."

"Orvis has excellent quality clothing and I will continue to order from the catalog. However, I was disappointed with this shirt. The photo online does not accurately depict what the shirt actually looks like and was not up to the usual high Orvis standards. Decent shirt, but not exceptional and the blue is not solid, it is checked with white."

"This is a really good looking casual shirt. Nice texture. One thing to be aware of is that Orvis has strange sizes. I think a medium Orvis would be a large for most other brands. Basically if you need a small size you will have to skip this shirt."

"The photo posted for this shirt makes it appear to be a soft solid blue color, similar to washed denim. The actual fabric, however, is a fine blue/black bicolor cross-pattern of some sort - NOT a soft solid blue color. A zoomed image of the shirt on this site reveals nothing, which is odd because the cross-pattern is easy to see from a few feet away. I don't know where Orvis got the photo they used, but it ISN'T a photo of this shirt.
In addition, the description of the shirt provided on this site is inadequate. The shirt has hidden buttons under the color (not included in the description), and the back of the shirt is pleated near the shoulders, not at the center (also not in the description).
While my overall experience with this purchase was poor, the lightweight 70% silk/30% cotton fabric is nice."
