I always read customer reviews before making a purchase because Orvis is careless on its sizings. I'm on the cusp between medium & large; medium was the right size with this item."

"In this day and age it seems hard to find meticulously made garments from excellent materials for a reasonable price. This is one, soft warm and well fitted. One of my prides and joys. Tailoring I used to find back in England where I lived for many years."

"I love this vest and would like to purchase the the black/charcoal colored one as well. I have received many compliments on the vest and usually wear it with my tweed sports jackets. The rust colered vest goes well with hunter green, brown and dark blue tweed jackets and helps keep me warm whenever I am visiting extremely cold cities such as Albany, NY and Chicago, IL.."

"This well-made and ruggedly good-looking waistcoat is just great. The beautiful tweed is both front and back plus there's a handy inside pocket. I can tell it's going to be winter warm and yet versatile across the seasons. The XL size I originally ordered turned out way too big, but was quite painlessly exchanged for size L which is just perfect. I don't like tight-fitting waistcoats and this could have been made for me. Superb!"

"Nicely made garment with a cloth back. Very comfortable to wear and the generous inside pocket is very welcome. Only very small gripe is that the colour (tan multi) is much browner than shown on the web site; but I still like it."

"I originally purchased these for a classic, Victorian-style outfit, but these work well with jeans or khakis and any collared shirt. The lapels give these vests a more finished look, and don't look like a jacket is missing from the outfit. I bought this in tan, then got the charcoal as well."
