Desk Model de Havilland Beaver
The de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver is widely considered the most famous bush plane ever made. Manufactured by the de Havilland Company of Canada from 1947 to 1967, almost 1700 of these trusty little airplanes were built. Originally designed for the harsh environment of Canada's north country, they ended up in service all over the world, including stints in the armed forces, and even at the South Pole serving as support for Sir Edmund Hillary's renowned expedition. Incredibly versatile, they could land on water (with floats) on snow (fitted with skies) or on dry land (fitted with wheels), needed very little takeoff and landing area, and could carry a 2,100-lb. payload. Although production officially ended in 1967, hundreds of original Beavers—proudly restored, updated, and modified—are still flown regularly. In Alaska and northern Canada they are the aircraft of choice when access to pristine, remote locations is required. 12¾"L, 17¾" wing span. 1/32-scale.

"A nice addition to my office decor. A well build model beautifully outlining and detailing the classic lines of this workhorse of the Canadian North and Alaska. Would have been nice to see some cabin detail but for the money, this is good value and a treasured reminder of some excellent past excursions."
