Wet-Weather Upland Shell

A revolutionary minimal upland soft shell perfect for wearing under a strap vest. We tested three top fabrics on dog vests and sent the dogs hunting in rugged cover for five days straight. We chose the toughest fabric for our jacket. The fabric stands up best to brush, but stays breathable and water resistant. Inside, the shell's lightweight, soft fleece liner insulates and comforts. Blaze accents increase safety afield. The jacket's gusseted and adjustable cuffs keep out the wind. Its underarm, ventilating zips aid circulation. Jacket includes adjustable bungee waist. In tan/blaze. Nylon. Washable. Imported.Sizes: M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52).

"I have always enjoyed the Orvis brand and this continues with an excellent garment named Wet Weather Upland Shell. The quality is great and the material has a terrific feel to it. Quality appears to be typical of Orvis and I am very happy that i made this purchase."

Baggy,
March 7, 2013
By: Drahthaar

"I like the style and function of the Wet-Weather Upland Shell however it does have a very baggy fit through the body. This does cause a bit of bunching under a strap vest. Not totally bothersome but something to be aware of especially if the buyer is on the "thin" side"

Lightweight wind protection, good ventilation,
February 16, 2013

"I agree with others that this coat costs a lot for what you get. I bought it for the fabric and ventilation and both work well. My biggest complaint is the way the inner fleece clings to most fabrics, wish it had a light nylon lining in the sleeves. I have to wear a smooth polyester as an underlayer, wool shirts cling and restrict gun mounting. Could also use an inside pocket."

"Simply the best. 8 deg and 25 mph wind, while pheasant hunting in ND last week, over a long sleeve cotton shirt and wool sweater. No problem! 2 years now and I will not pull out of the driveway without it."

Bought it Again,
November 7, 2012
By: Arthur0413
"I have owned this product in the past, and found it superior. I lost some weight and so had replace my hunting coat. I have several of the 'old' size - this was my unhesitating choice for the new size. I use the coat for hunting grouse in all weather and find it durable, waterproof, able to adjust to a range of temperatures and light. All good."

Best Ever,
October 29, 2012
By: Undbob

"This is the best lightweight hunting jacket I have ever owned. It's the perfect weight for most upland hunting where you eventually work up a great deal of body heat and provides great ease of movement and totally waterproof yet breathable. I liked it so much that I recently bough the other color of this coat for wearing casually and wore it to a football game this weekend."

"Very nice/light waterproof shell. Very tough in brush country. Excellent for layering and wearing a strap vest over, or even a shell belt-the reason I bought it."

"I definetly find this product worthy of what the company said it can do!!! I have tested this product hunting and fishing (olive color) . warm , cold, wet, and windy weather! No problems period!!! The size is exact to charts! No restrictions in movement , shouldering my 20ga or casing my #6 wieght fly rod! It is a little bit pricey!! that is main reason I didn't give it a 5 star!!"

"I really like this shell. It is very comfortable and just warm enough. The pit vents work well. It seems to stand up to thorns pretty well. I have been wearing it with a standard vest and it seems like the perfect system for my type of hunting. A few more pockets would be nice. Overall a great coat for late season hunting."

Dog Chaser,

"Love the new jacket! Have been wearing the same wax cotton upland coat for 20 years and just can't stand to wear the heavy old coat anymore. The weight of the wet weather upland shell is a joy to hunt in and warm too. Only thing I would change / add would be a mesh inside pocket with zipper, for keys, phone, compass or whatever."

Great jacket.. But..,
November 27, 2011
By: Uplander717
"This is a tough review for me. First off, I love this jacket. Both my Dad, and Father in Law purchased this jacket after seing mine. I have used this jacket in the snow in PA for pheasants, GA for quail, and 0 degree temps in South Dakota for late season pheasants. The jacket performed wonderfully in all conditions. In SD, I wore a wool undershirt, a shooting shirt, and my Orvis jacket and was plenty warm in near zero degree temps. In PA we hunted in wet snow all day long and I the jacket kept me warm and dry. The pit zips are a wonderful addition, but also this jackets major downfall. The zipper and track have nothing covering them. If you craddle your shotgun under your arm, and the pit zips are zipped closed, the zipper will mark up your shotgun stock. It is happening with all three of our jackets with nearly every gun we have carried. I love this jacket, but the fact that the pit zipper marks up my gun is very disapointing. I would be very hesitant to use this jacket with a nice double gun with great wood."

Great versatile jacket,

By: AvidUplander

"Days after receiving this jacket, I had the opportunity to wear it during a wet and chilly Montana bird hunt. I ended up wearing it every day during the chilly mornings and late afternoons. A couple of minor suggestions (wish-list) would be velcro on the cuffs and a two-way front zipper. This jacket performs as promised and more."

Well constructed and designed,
June 15, 2011

"If you're like me, and you don't like getting wet any more than the next guy, but most waterproof clothes make you sweat like you're inside a sauna, this jacket is for you. It doesn't just SAY it's breathable; it really is. Inside is a soft fleece, and outside is fabric which doesn't feel stiff or "plasti-coated". Nice touch is the little "tab" of fabric which covers the top of the zipper to keep it from rubbing your neck. Only caveat is that anyone who won't be wearing something as thick as a sweatshirt underneath should probably order a size down. If you plan on making this a cold weather jacket, order your regular size."

"I love this jacket for the versatility it offers. It is great on cool days and the pit zips make it so that I don't have to carry extra clothes and deal with shedding and putting on clothes as I move across country. This is the my favorite piece of upland gear after my shotgun."

"This is my go to jacket on any type of upland day that is cold or rainy. It isn't too bulky, but will cut the wind and also sheds rain. The armpit zips are great if it is cool and not cold. Every upland hunter should own this jacket."

Better than expected,
January 3, 2011
By: gunsndogs
"Not only is this the ideal hunting jacket, it looks really sharp as well. It's not common to get complemented on my hunting attire but it's happened several times w/ this coat.
Thin enough that it doesn't impede my gun mount but warmer than you'd expect. It cuts the wind nicely & the drawstring waist keeps it from blowing up under. Collar is well designed, even has a tab to keep the zipper from your chin.
I like this product so much I'm going to buy another just in case they stop making it."
