The most important stage of the stonefly is the nymph stage, because it is more available to the trout as it crawls along the bottom on its way out of the stream to emerge. The adults are not as readily available due to their habits. This golden stonefly pattern is incredibly realistic and is a terrific searching pattern. Color, Yellow. In sizes: 8, 10, 12.

"They look just like this on the west branch of the Penobscot in Maine in June - except most are black. I'm trying Ted's Black Stone too. The rocks were crawling with them in July 2013 and if you through one of these down with the real ones you'd have trouble differentiating."
