The Spirit Leather Flight Jacket
The leather flight jacket was a vital piece of high-altitude survival gear. Cut for ease of movement in the tight confines of the cockpit, the flight jacket also needed functional details, such as easily accessible pockets and the ability to insulate without being bulky. Our genuine lambskin jacket pays tribute to aviation's pioneers, with a rugged, antiqued finish and a removable genuine shearling collar. The pure cotton twill body lining and polyester sleeve lining provide an easy fit over any outfit. Subtle Orvis embroidery on sleeve. Rib-knit cuffs and hem. Five exterior pockets, plus slots for pens; two interior pockets, one with button closure. In brown. Professionally clean. Imported.Sizes: S(34-36), M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52); about 28" long in size large.

"From the minute the box arrives by courier, to opening the special Orvis dust cover and to seeing the Orvis wooden coat hanger, you know this jacket is special. And it doesn't disappoint !!
It is quite simply the best leather jacket I have ever worn - or am likely to wear in the future.
The leather feels very soft. It's very warm and comfortable.The cut is excellent - there's enough room to wear a sweater to cater for the coldest of days yet the jacket does not feel bulky.
I don't mind the (not so subtle) Orvis logo on the sleeve but, if nit-picking, would prefer it to be dark brown like the jacket.
I was a little worried about sizing but found my usual size L in Orvis clothes was fine. I'm a UK size 44/46 and a touch off 6 feet and the size L in this jacket fits me well in both the body and sleeves.
Potential purchasers should also bear in mind that this jacket is a very dark brown, so much so that the black rib-knit at the cuffs and sleeves as well as the grey shearling match well.
Undoubtedly my best purchase from Orvis and I'm delighted with it !!"

"I wanted a jacket for every day wear as well as out on the Harley - rather than keeping two jackets. Delivery was quick and sizing was as described. Very well made and in its own case with hanger, it looked good when unwrapped and fitted well and looks good on. Comfortable and stylish out on foot, down the pub or out on two wheels. Recommended."

"This is an easy to wear option, the leather is soft, & the jacket isn't too bulky or heavyweight.
Having bought this in the sale, it gets a four star mark as it is value for the money at that price. It loses a star because of the rather overt 'ORVIS' logo, emblazoned on the left arm. Wearing your label on your outer sleeve is in the realms of the tradesman or the parvenu. I am not the latter, nor have I ever worked for Orvis!"

"I ordered this jacket in medium (38-40). I would say it fit more like a 44. It measured 50" circumference at the armpits (25" across). The sleeves were proportionately too long. I didn't spend a lot of time with it, but would say it represents good value for the dollar. I returned it for a size S, which I have not yet received. I will add to this review when I do.
Disparity in sizing seems pretty common. I read reviews of another product (boots) before ordering. The reviews correctly suggested ordering down one size. I forgot to check reviews for the jacket, which might have indicated the size discrepancy."

"Was not sure if I was medium or large based on other reviews. I chose large which turned out to be the correct choice, the jacket fits very well and there is still room to wear a jumper underneath if required.
Agree with previous reviewers that the ORVIS logo is unnecessary and is the only thing I do not like about the jacket; so like some reviewers I have darkened the logo with a black permanent marker.
I really like the jacket; the quality, fit and overall feel is good, so much so, I have worn it every day since it arrived. I would not hesitate to recommend this jacket. I have to admit I waited until it was on sale and was then lucky enough to get extra discount in the leather sale but if you wait too long you might not be so lucky!
Orvis service was 5 star as usual with prompt delivery and the product was well packed and protected."

"This jacket was advertised as having a subtle ORVIS name on the sleeve. I didn't see it in the picture so assumed it was hardly visible. It was not. This ruined an otherwise nice looking jacket. A jacket like this should never reveal the maker's advertisement."

"First of all, this jacket does not look like its photo! Terrific job by whomever took the photo. Jacket much darker and the ORVIS lettering on the sleeve is obnoxious ! It took me 30 seconds to look at it and put it back in its box to send it back. Shame on me for losing about 20 some bucks on shipping this garbage. Worth only about 50 bucks at best!"

"Have been looking for 30 years to replace a lambskin bomber jacket I was given as a gift by my mother. None had come close. The Spirit Flight Jacket was the only one I found which fit the bill. It immediately felt like an old friend when I first tried it on. Most comfortable and warm leather jacket, materials/ workmanship are first class. Packaging and customer service first rate. My 16yr old son tried it on and couldn't believe the comfort and " awesome" look of this jacket. Such an exceptional quality and buy, I bought 2. Thanks Orvis for replacing my old friend."

"I bought this jacket at the Dover Street shop in London. The size is XL and fits me a treat. I wear it on my motor scooter and it is windproof and warm.
I am an Orvis fan, I like the logo, it tells people that I appreciate great quality. I got it in the sale so I am doubly pleased. I buy shirts , suits, jackets belts and an iPhone holder for my belt."

"Jacket is good quality, but I'm glad I purchased it at $50 off. The giant Orvis logo on the sleeve is a different color than depicted in the cataloge and is very obvious. I colored mine over with a black sharpie to hide it. Quality will advertise your product more than the hideous logo on the sleeve."
