The Orvis Fly-Fishing School is held at the Gilchrist Club, an exclusive private membership hunting and sweetwater fishing property nestled on 27,000 acres of piney flat woods, oak hammocks, and cypress wetlands, in North Central Florida. The Club sports five private lakes and has access to both the Santa Fe and Suwannee Rivers. This school will provide students the opportunity to learn techniques critical to fishing sweet-tea colored water for largemouth bass, bream, crappie and war mouth. Experience isn't required as our expert staff of fly-fishing school instructors helps you master specific techniques required to fish these species, everything from setting up the rod, to fly selection and knots, to how to safely release your catch. Fly-fishing classes are held in a richly appointed private lodge offering limited class sizes and a comfort level akin to your own home. Casting instruction will be held on the spacious lawns, casting pond and lake front.

Great Experience, Great Class,
October 7, 2013
from Trenton, FL
"I recently spent a weekend at the Gilchrist Club in Trenton, Florida learning to fly-fish. Though I had cast a few times in the past, I am a beginning fly-fisherman and thought the Orvis 2-Day Fly-Fishing School would be a great way to learn the fundamentals. Our instructor, Leiza Fitzgerald, was wonderfully patient and knowledgeable and by the end of the two day class, I felt I understood the basics of the sport. I even caught a fish! Thanks Leiza! If you're past the beginning stages, don't despair, Leiza is more than capable of teaching any ol' dog a new trick or two. Whether you're refining your technique or new to the sport, the Orvis 2-Day Fly-Fishing is a great way to learn. As a bonus, the food and lodging at the Gilchist Club were fantastic!"

Orvis 2 Day Flyfishing School,
October 5, 2013
"The Orvis 2 day flyfishing school far exceeded my expectations. I have been fly fishing for over 50 years and did not expect to learn much new. Our Orvis instructor Lieza Fitzgerald was friendly and very knowledgeable. Her ability to demonstrate the lessons she taught us help resolve several problems I had develop over the years. Every part of the classes were clearly presented then demonstrated. I can recommend this Orvis Fly Fishing School to anyone wanting to learn of improve the casting skills or general knowledge of fly fishing. I am looking forward to any future classes presented by Orvis and Lieza Fitzgerald. The Gilchrist Club was excellent in their hospitality, food and facilities. In all it was a very enjoyable and informative experience."

Great time; friendliest people!,

"I expected the 2 day Orvis casting school to be good, and it was. They covered the basics, and now, like golf, I must practice, practice, practice, to get better. I stayed over an extra 1/2 day for a guided fishing trip on one of Gilchrist Club's lakes, and caught (& released) my first few fish on fly - lots of fun. Equally important were the accommodations and the people - the facilities and food were top notch, and the people - what can I say? They were the most friendly, helpful, accommodating people I can remember spending time with. Orvis has a real gem here."

"This past Thanksgiving the family stayed at the Gilchrist Club for several nights. We fished, shot clays, and canoed the Santa Fe. The accomodations were terrific, the dining extraordinary and the staff - well, they couldn't have been better. 5 stars for the Gilchrist Club and the opportunity to take the Orvis course there."
