"I was very skeptical because my golden is a huge chewer, but I felt so badly that he didn't have a soft place to sleep since he has chewed everything we have tried. I felt I had nothing to lose with the guarantee that Orvis gives so we ordered this bed. I understand what the first reviewer is talking about because when I first took it out of the box, it seemed very odd--almost like it was just full of air. I wasn't sure it would work for my dog. And it definitely does not look like the photo--my golden does not lay comfy on top as the photo shows. He is 75 lbs. so it is a lot thinner under his weight. I have to say though, he absolutely loves it and is sleeping on it all the time. The inner cushion does even out after a week or so and it doesn't bubble up anymore when he steps on it. So I am more than pleased that he has a soft bed to lay on. He is not the kind of dog that needs a proper 'bed' so it's not fluffy or cushy but just right for him--a soft and warm place that gets him off the cold floor when he wants to. I have nothing to compare this to as it is our first dog bed but for me, his loving it is all that matters, even if it doesn't seem 'bed enough.' I am ordering another for the family room. He has tried chewing on a corner but so far has not made any progress. I'll report back if that changes!"

"I've purchased the older toughchew bed in the past and it was terrific, so it was a no brainer to buy this product when we needed a new one....however, the new toughchew dog bed is a serious disappointment. The material is hard and stiff, the colors are unattractive in person, and the bed does not hold the weight of the dog. The inside material totally collapses with any weight. Orvis, PLEASE bring back the old toughchew products!!"
