"Forceps, scissors, and crimper in one well-built tool? Excellent! I just wish Orvis would make them in matte black with cushioning on the handle."

"I do a lot of back country trout fishing so I hate carrying a bunch gear that is not always needed. This little guy does multiple jobs. Very strong. Had no problem cutting all the different lines I use."

Must Have,

By: jfaisten

"The scissors/forceps are a must have for anyone who likes to fish. Snap them onto your coat or shirt and you'll use them all day long to remove hooks, cut line, close barbs etc. They make great gifts as well."

Very satisfied,
July 24, 2012
By: JohnnyMc
from Wisconsin
"I am very satisfied with this purchase. I bought them particularly for the barb crusher. The fingerloops are big enough and the construction sturdy enough to really apply some torque when mashing down the barbs. Though I still prefer nippers and always keep them at the ready on a lanyard, the scissors on the forceps are a handy backup and do not seem to detract from the function of the forceps, which concerned me a little before the purchase. I have only used them for a few weeks, but if they hold up I will be a big fan."

Scissor forceps,
July 23, 2012
By: OKfly
"Very stiff even after lubricating. Extremely hard to lock and unlock. So much pressure has to be applied when locking, I'm concerned the handles may break. Finger loops too small. I have much cheaper forceps that are much easier and more comfortable to use."

Inferior steel; broke two of them!!!,
December 7, 2011
By: BackcountryGuy
"Broke the arm in two as I was crimping a split shot onto my line, returned it months later.... the second one broke too - the same way. Never bothered to return that one. I had two Orvis Zingers that I use for these type tools that BOTH broke as well. All while standing in the middle of a river, on a very expensive once in a lifetime trip."

great pair of forceps/scissors,
December 5, 2011
By: BeginnerFlyGuy
from Montague, MI
"Nice multi-tool for fishing. The hemos lock securely and the scissors are sharp.
I like the fact that there are no sharp tips (like on regular scissors) so I can use these clipped on my vest in low-light situations and not worry about poking or cutting my fingers."

Nice but Pricey,
October 9, 2011
By: JohnJA
from California
"Ordered these last spring. I decided that I carry way to much gear on the water, and I was looking for a way to reduce. I keep these on the shoulder strap of the sling pack. The quality is first rate, and having three tools ready at hand is most convenient. The standard price is high. Cheap tools go for much less. I got mine on sale."

"These are great!
I really like the enlarged area behind the hinge. It makes it real easy to debarb hooks streamside. The forceps are tight and seem well made. I expect them to last a long time and would recommend them."

Wanted to love them,
September 1, 2011
By: Topwater
from Bethesda, MD
"I wanted to love this tool but "really really like it" is as far as I can go.
For over 20 years I've been using the same surgical stainless forceps that work fine for me, but I liked the multipurpose promise (grab, cut, crimp) of the Power Jaw Scissor/Forceps. The main reason I bought them is because I recently learned a few forceps knots and it made sense to use a single tool that could twist, grab, and trim the line while tying these knots.
Unfortunately, the machining at the very tip of this tool's jaws doesn't provide a perfectly flush fit when the jaws are closed. This makes it very difficult to grab the tag end of tippet material when finishing off forceps knots. With the very lightest tippet it is impossible to get a good grip.
I will probably keep them in spite of this shortcoming. There is a lot to like about them because they feel great in your hand, the construction is clearly solid, and they look great. If you don't use it to tie knots, this tool will definitely meet your needs for years to come (hence my 4-star rating). Another reason I'll keep them is because the Safe Passage Sling Pack I'm considering has a spot for two pairs of forceps or pliers!"

Best Forceps I've owned,
August 30, 2011
By: FeatherFly

"I've been through many forceps over the years and these are by far the best I've owned. Great quality, comfortable circle grips and I love the scissor feature. I also use the barb flattening section regularly. They are great!"
