In one word, Elegance.,

"I have fished this rod for nearly a year, so it has been in every condition possible here in WV. From boulder hopping pocket water, tight laurel thicket "casts," ice, high/low water levels/flows, more ice, and pretty much everything else you can think of. Although maybe not the "best tool" for some of the extreme conditions I have put it through, it proved itself to be a true workhorse of a rod and performed better than expected with the functional elegance and beauty we have come to expect from Orvis. Under "normal" fishing conditions, the rod was exceptional and is at the top of the pack. It's weight make fishing 10 hours seem like nothing, even in the instances when high-sticking in a pinch, and the mid-flex taper gives you amazing line control with enough backbone to reach out there when need be. If you want one rod that can seemingly do anything you ask of it, this would be it. Despite what some say, the rod does make a fisherman better, and in turn a better fisherman. I pack it in the car everywhere I go just in case."

As good as I hoped,

"I've been interested in this rod since a friend let me swing his on a small Colorado stream, and finally have my own. I wanted a light, easy handling rod for smaller streams and dry flies, but this past weekend, broke it out to nymph with a fair amount of weight on the Blue River, after using my 5 wt Access all morning. Could not believe the combination of easy casting coupled with the strength to still fight and land some very strong 18" rainbows. Looking forward to years of fun with this rod!"

"I've used this rod for an entire season up here in SW Ontario, making forays into northern Ontario and this rod has become my favourite for medium-sized streams and rivers. I have it teamed with the Mirage reel loaded with Airflo ridge line and it casts very well. In fact I don't have to think about the casting part of it at all. I look at where I want the fly to go and it magically appears exactly there! It's a pleasure to use.
I've used it on small streams too and on much bigger rivers when necessary and it performs admirably."

"I fished a 3wt in June last year before these were available to the public. A guide I fished with was one of the Beta testers and had a couple he was reviewing. He broke a 5wt and only had a 3wt for me to fish. I was super impressed with the accuracy; even when casting a nymph rig in high winds. And for a 3wt to chuck and duck split shot and a nymph rig accurately is pretty impressive indeed. The 4wt mid flex is a better tool for me; not quite as accurate or delicate as the 3wt, but for me a 4wt is a better all-round rod. This thing can reach distances like a 6wt, and is super accurate. A joy to cast all day. I hate to say it, but it's a lot better looking than my Helios. I love the Helios, but don't really care for the gold real seat. I do like the look of the H2 better than the "H1". If and when these guys release a 7 1/2 foot, mid flex 3wt H2, that rod will be an absolute blast for dry fly casting!"
