"These pants only come in even sizes (32, 34, 36), but the waistband is not split, so you can't adjust the size.
I really want to like these pants, but I can't make them fit."

"After reading the reviews and description of these pants, I was expecting a great pair of khakis. The material was not soft. The fit was the most dissapointing. Short rise, and the leg openings were almost tapered. Tried them on and couldn't have been more dissapointed. At that price, they should be a good quality classic khaki."

"I first tried these a couple of years ago after searching everywhere for a decent pair of khakis to no avail. These have been a really nice pair of pants that are long lasting, fit well and have nice features. However, I have found that even after washing many times they still don't have that broken in, soft feeling like most pants get. Perhaps in the 40's pants were like this, but seems to me they should get softer with use. Also, they don't make them in LONG RISE which would be great for tall guys like me at 6' 2"."

Why can't they get the colors right?,

"I am a long time owner of the Ultimate Khakis. I think I am on my 4th or 5th generation order. The regular khaki ones are great. This is my third attempt with the non-khaki colored ones. Something is not quite right. The fabric feels the same, the colors are great, the fit is the same, but when you wash and dry them, holy cow! do they wrinkle. I can wash and dry my regular khaki ones alongside the different colored ones (bone and british khaki) and the regular ones come out fine, a little wrinkling OK, but the bone and BK ones come out looking like a grizzled 100 year old man's face. Talk about wrinkles! I will probably keep these and see what I can do about the wrinkles but come on Orvis, why can't you get this part right?
PS. I would recommend the regular ones, not the colored ones. Maybe that is why Orvis takes the colored option away so quickly."

"These slacks are very narrowly tailored. Unwearable for me. Easily 1-2 inches smaller in the waist than sized. Very tight rise as well. Steer clear of these slacks, no matter what the price."

"This is the fabric which conquered India (from where the name derives). Indispensable in any wardrobe. Tough as denim but it looks much better and can be worn with anything, from sweatshirt to blazer. Buy four and never worry about pants again."

Why no odd waist sizes?,

"These pants come in even waist sizes only! Why no 31, 33. 35 sizes like everyone else offers? Customer service told me size 34 actually measures 35.5 - if that were true it's a bad fir for those needing 34, but as it turns out they are not 35.5 so it was a bad fit for me needing 35". When I asked customer service why no odd waist sizes I was told customers preferred even sizes only. Ha! Since when do customers prefer less choice and a poor fit? Too bad, because they're nice pants if you need even waist sizes only."

"I purchased my first two pair of Ultimate Khakis in 2002... I have worn them regularly since and Wow... they have lasted 11 years. I just purchased two more because I wanted a different color. Ask yourself... when was the last time a pair of pants lasted you 11 years... If you don't have an answer, I do... Orvis Ultimate Khakis, Smart Investment..."
