well made product,
May 1, 2013
By: actionjackson

"Purchased too late in the winter season to wear on a regular basis but on some remaining cold early mornings, it was warm and comfortable. The styling and construction were what I would expect from Barbour, as well as the price. I will consider buying another sweater in a different color next year."

Warm thick and soft - water and wind proof.,
February 11, 2013
By: Anonymous

"This sweater is as durable as a combination wool coat, rain jacket and wind stopper. I wear it to the grocery store during subzero temps and walking about in nasty weather. Has a waterproof liner that also stops wind. As long as you wear a wool or synthetic base layer there is no trapped moisture from sweat. The wool is very soft but tuff as nails. Orvis did an exchange on size no problem.5'5 with 42 chest and large fits great. At one point the large was too narrow in. the chest but they fixed that issue."

Great gift!,

"This sweater was a gift from my husband! I loved his and commented on the silky lining and how easy it was to layer over other things, so he bought me one, too! It's warm and windproof which is important when I'm out with our dogs! It's pricey but worth it!"

Heavy weight comfort,
January 17, 2013
By: bonbright7

"This luxuriously tough sweater is the furry beast everyone needs to wear for observing Winter sports outside.
Much better looking than fleece jackets, it exudes classical comfort while protecting one from the elements. When used with a long rain coat or shell, it has few peers outside for protection."

Solid quality; very warm.,

"I bought this sweater to wear as a mid-layer for skiing on the coldest days. The quality is superior. The sizing is generous. I wear a true medium and this sweater is generously cut in the medium size; it's nearly a large through the shoulders and chest. It is extremely warm. I wore it under a non-insulated nylon ski parka and kept warm on a 6 degree F day when the wind-chill was -2F. I think it would cook me to wear it indoors, but that's not why I bought it. Buy it if you want a comfortable and handsome heavy sweater."

Awsome Sweater,
January 1, 2013
By: toughonstuff

"This is spendy but I think it is worth the money.
Looks and feels great.
Is Minnesota functional.
That means you need something to cut the chill all the time.
It eliminates a layer.
I have not had it cleaned as of this writing but I think it will hold it shape.
I love this sweater.

Best sweater ever,
December 29, 2012
By: Herbo
from Homewood, CA
"Right now Tahoe has 5 feet of snow and a nice wind and water proof sweater is very cosy. Perfect for removing the snow from the deck and drive. The wind may howl but you will stay warm and dry (taped seams on the liner) even when the wind blows the snow back from the snowblower. Zip up the quarter zipper and even you neck is good to go."

Great Sweater - Even for $300,
November 4, 2012
By: JCKVA
from Northern Virginia
"First, I agree with others who said these run about 1 size small. I usually wear an L or XL with Orvis products, and for this Barbour, an XL fit perfectly. So if you're between sizes, definitely move up a size.
The sweater is certainly warm. I've not worn it in the rain yet, but I have no reason to doubt it's waterproof characteristics.
Tight knit, which I assume keeps the cold and rain out better than a looser knit.
Bottom line: a very expensive sweater, but despite its cost, I expect it be be a great value. It certainly looks nice, too."

Best sweater I have ever owned,
March 28, 2012
By: aeharris
from Mount Shasta, California
"I live in the snow country. The temperature gets into the single digits and below. I have to use a tractor to plow snow. I wear this sweater under a jacket when it snows and without one when it is not snowing. It is the most comfortable and warm sweater I have ever worn. It keeps me toasty and dry when in the coldest weather. I recommend this sweater highly to anyone living in cold weather areas. It is also dressy. It can be worn with Levis or dress pants. I am ordering another one. Good job on whoever thought of this type of sweater. Thanks"

Sweet Sweater,
January 14, 2012
By: TJDaniels
from Wisconsin
"I love this sweater and bought 3 so far, 2 navy, 1 green. They feel more like cotton than wool. Incredibly durable, warm and comfortable. Some people don't like the lining but, I think it is fantastic it stops wind, water and cold ... best of all it slips on like a dream. I wear this with a tee shirt and with an under armor tee shirt I'm toasty outside in 35 degree weather. I've slept in this sweater for weeks in a damp cool hotel room and it was wonderfully comfortable. I've thrown it on with nothing underneath, the lining is comfortable on bare skin ... who can say that about any other wool sweater. I've gone for walks with my dog when it was raining in 40 degree weather and stayed dry and warm. You'll love this sweater."

"This is a fantastic One of a kind sweater in my opinion. It is the only sweater I own that has a lining that protects you from wind and water. Very heavy duty, good looking, barbour name, and a must have wardrobe item for an active outdoorsman."

Premium sweater,
December 30, 2011
By: 71Cuda
from Sacramento, CA
"This is a great sweater. I received this (in color navy) as a Christmas gift, and it is one of the best things I've ever received.
Plus:
Superb quality
Flattering drape (I'm 6' 2", 210 lbs., got size L, get lots of compliments wearing this sweater)
Beautiful color
Supple feel
Neutral:
The sweater is listed as machine washable, but it will still require conscientious handling during laundering. The majority of this sweater is 100% wool, so to preserve the beauty and sizing of this item you must research how to properly wash wool! Fortunately you won't need to wash wool very often since it is a natural fiber.
Minus:
Acetic acid (vinegar) smell out of the box
Liner makes a rustling sound when you move
Despite the two minus characteristics, this is still a premium sweater that deserves all five stars. I wear it all the time, and would probably sleep in it if it didn't have the faint vinegar smell. The smell makes me debate either having it cleaned professionally or cleaning it myself, but I do not want to risk harming it either way. I believe I will not worry about the smell and hope that it goes away on its own."
