"I thought it was a bit pricey when first purchased, however, it washes great and holds up with both the cat and dog clawing, so it is well worth it. My friend babysat my dog and she had ruined his bedspread the time before, well he used it and it worked for him too. I'd recommend it out of the box. Will see how long it lasts. Would like a few more color choices."

Great improvement !!,

"This coverlet is a life saver for me..
My dogs love curling up on the bed with me at night but I have a springer with a leakage problem every once in a while. This coverlet looks classy and yet it keeps the bedding dry. I had purchased the same product a few years ago and you have made some fabulous improvements. It's much lighter and you don't have the problem cotton underlining anymore.
Love the stone color!!

"The top microfiber material is nice; however, after washing the top and bottom layers don't square up and there is a loose elastic band inside."

Stiff unpleasant feel,
May 9, 2013
By: bigdogadopter
from Burlington, VT
"Orvis makes the best dog beds ever and I have bought 3 of them so I figured this product would be as good. Unfortunately I found the the fabric oddly stiff, like a tarp and the top surface shifted all the time from the underside which was quite soft. My ver large St. Bernard/Golden mix pup jumps on the bed when I'm not home but does not sleep on it. It seemed that something was not right with the way the whole coverlet was designed and constructed. I also ordered 2 shams which were so huge, I had no pillows big enough to fit and sent them back, but I did keep the coverlet, hoping it might get better with use."

"I bought this blanket because I have an older medium sized dog with ocassional incontinence. It does NOT protect my bedding and mattress from "accidents" as it claims to. Total waste of money!"

Bed Covers a Must!,

By: LabLover87

"I have 2 Labs who love to get wet and dirty and also love to sleep on my bed. I got tired of washing my bedding all the time and finally got this nice cover. It is perfect! Keeps the dirt and wet off my bedding and the pups are happy as they still get the comfort of the bed all day!"

Good but has odor,
April 12, 2013
By: Salmon2336
"This coverlet works as advertised. The moisture and dirt from th big dogs doesn't seep through to the covers beneath. My only problem is that even after washing, which I had to do first thing, it has an odor from the fabric. After two washings it has not dissipated yet. The older one I purchased years ago worked just as well, but didn't have this problem. I do wish it were made In the United States."

"Very lightweight. It makes a crinkling sound when moving it. I also have the Dog-Friendly Comforter from Orvis which is heavier but doesn't make a crinkling sound. Other than that, the coverlet does what I need it to do. Holds up to dogs scratching at it and protects me from when my old dog has a small incontinence issue."

"Item color is way different in person. Wanted a light tan cover but it was more orange than tan. Also was very stiff and had a plastic feel to it. would be nice as a tarp but not a bed cover. Returned item same day it arrived."

Good product...,

"I really like the product so far. I love the lining so I don't have to worry as much if there are accidents. Also, it is nice and thin so it does not make the bed too hot. My only complaints would be that the lining is only attatched to the coverlet at the top and hense can slide around alot. Also, the blue color looks rather like denim. Other than that though the product works well."

The Old Version Was Better,
February 25, 2013
By: Svenska842
from Port Angeles, WA
"This coverlet used to be more substantial in overall weight and materials. I purchased one two years ago and this one is not as good at protecting the bed, is lighter weight, has a smaller surface area and actually costs about $40.00 more.
PROS: It will protect your bed against pet hair and moisture. Since it is lighter than the earlier product, it does not take as long to wash and dry. However, if you do not have a large capacity washer and dryer, you may be better off cleaning this product at a laundromat.
CONS: The inner plastic liner that helps protect against dampness is like a sheet of ice in between the top and bottom layers of the coverlet. Once a pet or even a human sits, walks or sleeps on it, it will slide around on the bed, and may expose your covers and sheets underneath. If you are a stickler for neatness this coverlet will drive you to therapy, but since you probably bought it because you own pets, by now you have learned to live with a little messiness.
I wish they had kept the old design.

"My husband and I really like this coverlet. Our 2 dogs can sleep on the bed without ruining our comforter. The water resistant fabric is great, but doesn't negatively affect the feel. The blue looks kind of like denim, but is pretty. Nice large size and it stays in place."

Attractive, effective cover for your bed,
February 4, 2013
By: DogHaus
"The coverlet arrived quickly and was ready to be used right out of the box. I was worried that the material would be ugly or would look highly synthetic, but I was pleasantly surprised. The coverlet fits well on our guest bed and makes it easy to keep dog hair off. That means the dog can sleep on the bed, and we don't have to scramble to wash the comforter when guests need to use it."

Bed protection,

"We goth this to protect our bed from the dog and the cats. In particular the cats like to sleep on the bed and leave hair balls behind. If this happens we throw the coverlet in the wash and we are good to go."

It Works!!,
January 31, 2013
By: lalockeye

"I ordered this to protect our bedding from various dog and cat accidents. We were very pleased with the Lotus color, and it looks much better "in person" than it does on teh website. The coverlet was tested shortly after it arrived with a cat hairball, which stayed safely on teh coverlet and did not leak through to the quilt. I just washed the coverlet and put it back on the bed. It works and it is a nicce looking product as well."

Very disappointed,
January 25, 2013
By: Norjee
from Woodinville, Washington
"The coverlet appears to be made of good quality materials. However, the lining and the outer fabric aren't sewn together anywhere except around the edges. Since the outer fabric is heavier than the lining, and the lining is slick and slippery the coverlet would never lay flat. The top layer kept sliding over the lining and it looked lumpy. I ordered a King size so maybe the smaller sizes wouldn't slide so easily as they are lighter. I even considered trying sew the top layer to the lining at the seams on the top cover but decided that it would be a lot of work since everything is so heavy and slippery and there was no guarantee this would solve the problem.
I returned the coverlet to our local Orvis and explained what happened and they gladly gave me my refund.
Orvis has always given me excellent customer service and I don't believe I've ever had to return anything for construction flaws before.

So far, so good, I have 2 sets,
January 6, 2013

"I have 2 cal king coverlets and a set of pillow shams. I am ordering another set of shams to make 2 full sets, one to use, one to wash. It does take a while to dry this fabric because the inside is plastic lined, so you don't want to over heat it in the dryer. Better to partially dry on low and then hang in the bath or garage till dry. This fabric wipes pretty clean with a sponge when removing foot prints or slobber. We sleep with our huge male Doberman on the bed, so we sleep with the coverlet over the blankets. Surprisingly, not too hot or to cold over our comforter!
I do have to admit that the dog likes to suck on fabric, so he did tear a hole in the liner but did not damage the actual top part.
