Microfibre Ranger Jacket

A new microfibre version of our original Ranger Jacket, a military field jacket that first saw service during WWII and was later adopted for use by the Special Forces. The lightweight microtwill fabric sits easily on the shoulders, whilst the bi-swing back and articulated elbows and underarms provide easy range of motion. Accented with washable cowbelly trim and leather elbow patches, it features an adjustable full-zip/button-front closure with storm flap, a cinch waist to seal out errant drafts, and five outside button-through patch pockets. Inside, there are two mesh pockest, pen slots, and two drop-in pockets, one with a zip closure. Fully lined, with power mesh lining throughout the top half of the jacket.Lightweight ranger jacket in olive. 100% polyester. Lining: upper body 82% nylon/18% elastane, lower body and sleeve 100% polyester. Washable. Sizes: S(34-36), M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52); about 33¼" long in size large.

Fair Jacket,

"Fit is good, materials and finishing is good as well. Style has too many buttons and perhaps is to pricy for a microfiber jacket."

Bad purchase,
January 25, 2013

"I liked the look of this jacket and it seemed perfect for my travels and mild weather. The exterior of the jacket is what caught my eye but the fact that there are no pictures; very hard to make a solid decision. Nothing of the interior, it is like you are buying a lemon on a car lot. This jacket is oversized and has no distinctiveness to it. Orvis tried to make this similiar to Barbour I would hope but they failed horribly. I am a 41 in suit jackets, 5'11, 185 lbs with a muscular build and the large was the size of Shamu. If you want this jacket, buy 2 sizes down. The jacket is double-vented in the back, which makes no sense at all. Never again and from now when I do buy anything Orvis it would have to be in the store. I am making an honest plea to Orvis, please make your items with slimmer trims."

Jacket too thin, flimsy,

"I ordered this Ranger Jacket thinking it would be a thicker cotton/microfiber, but it was very thin material and not well-made. It was also a bit baggy fitting. It actually looks better made in the online photos. I returned it for refund."

Good everyday jacket,

"My suit size is 38, but the M on this jacket was way too big, whereas the S is perfect. One of the most comfortable jackets I have, very warm. The zipper is indeed a bit tricky to start, although I've found that to be the case with many jackets of this type. Not a deal breaker for me as I live in CA and rarely need to zip up."

Ranger Jacket Problems,
October 30, 2012
By: Cadet
from Winfield, Illinois
"This jacket is lovely in every respect EXCEPT the double zipper is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO START TO ZIP to the point of being in-operapable. I am very dissapointed in this aspect of the jacket. Additionally, I would respectfully suggest that the jacket needs a zip-out liner (with a zipper that works), especially at this enormous price!!!"
