"I hadn't bought a backpack since highschool. Two years after after finishing college and seven countries under my belt all while hauling luggage about, I had reached a conclusion. That being, I needed a backpack again. With a trip to Rome and Nice two months away I searched high and low and finally settled on this. Everything I will be needing for day excursions fit perfectly with room to spare. As others have commented I was surprised about the dainty spring loaded hooks that attach the straps. We shall see how they hold up in the upcoming vacations. Otherwise completely satisfied with my purchase and already considering the matching weekend bag. I did go with the engraved name and it is perfectly centered in the bullhide leather. In conclusion, my satisfaction with this purchase has become typical of all of my Orvis selections."

"This Backpack, it is Excellent product. Quality made,solid stitching,made with rugged quality in mind. And it will last for years ! Well worth the price,for every reason. Roomy ,many pockets and it also has a safety locking on the main zipper flap,to lock your zippers together for added safety. I recommend this bag to ANY Traveler on the go."

"I have been a dedicated and loyal customer and satisfied in every way with all of the products that I have purchased from Orvis, which covers over 40 years. The bullhide and canvas backpack far exceeds my expectations and I highly recommend it. It is attractive and durable and is deserving of a 10 star rating. I have used it for travel and its many compartments provide all of the storage space one could desire, is easy to carry in one hand or on my back and fits easily under airplane seats. It is worth the price and is a must for every traveller and hiker.

"This is a gorgeous backpack. I got the one in brown canvas and had it monogrammed. I walk 7+ miles a day round trip to work and have gone through many backpacks. This is definitely the nicest looking, but the problem started the first day. No matter how tightly I cinched the straps, they would constantly slip through the brass loops. It would be an ongoing battle of tightening the straps as I walked. I weighed what I carry and it's around 12 pounds. Tying the ends in a knot solved the slippage, but it looked terrible. I bought some brass safety pins and pinned the straps from the underside. Problem solved and it looks okay. But I don't feel I should have to do this with a $200.00 back pack. I know I could have sent it back, but it looked so good and worked so well."

"This was a Chritmas gift for my husband. He takes it on his flights and he loves it. he goes on fly fishing trips and puts important papers in one pouch. He can put lots in the bag. He can put it under his seat. He loves it!"

"Travel coast-to-coast on a monthly basis and wanted a computer bag that was a step above the nylon backpack. This bag is a beauty. Fits my MacBook Pro 15" with ease. Plenty of room for extra carry-ons, eliminating my checked bag. Very sturdy and the leather trim adds a measure of sophistication. Quality detailing in all stitching, zips are strong. So many well-placed, well-thought-out useful pockets. Bag is of course heavier than nylon, but if you want a quality product that gives you a great deal more class, you'll love this."

"I did large amounts of research before I decided to spend $171 of hard earned college money on my new friend, Orvis. Clever name eh? He clings tightly to my back and is very easy to adjust. He has 5 large pockets which I use for various documents or written papers. The larger front pocket holds 2 pens, 2 credit cards, has a leather strap for your keys, a spot for your financial calculator, and room enough for 2 medium sized books. As a reference, Atlas Shrugged hardcover will not fit in the front. In the large compartment, there is a strap to hold your 13 or 15 inch Macbook and space in front to place your textbooks spine up. The color is extremely similar to the picture on the website and it is bigger in reality. I am addicted. I am speeding this review up a little because I am about to watch a movie, but my last rant: It does not strain the back, it holds everything I need and more. The side pockets are useful in that they hold my charger for my phone, a water bottle, and my glasses case. I have gotten 7 compliments in the first week. I feel like a better man when I wear it."

"I recently gave up my briefcase and bought the Bullhide-and-canvas Backpack by Orivs and I am happy I did. Laptop fits well and has the foam protection for the computer with plenty of room for power cord and son on. he pack is roomy and has lots of zip compartments to organize items. I will be traveling and using this a a carry on for passport, day one clothes and other travel documents. This is a great bag for comfort too with padded shoulder straps . Would highly recommend and will be ordering the rolling duffel because of the quality I see in this item"

"VERY GOOD QUOALITY FOR THE MOST PART. NOT WILD ABOUT THE PLAID INTERIOR. THE BRASS CLIPS ON THE BASE OF THE SHOULDER STAPS SEAM A BIT CHEAP AND LIGHT DUTY COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE QUALITY. TIME WILL TELL AND I GUESS THEY COULD BE REPLACED EASILY IF THEY FAIL.BASED ON THE PRICE OF THIS THING IT SHOULD BE OF TOP QUALITY.MATERIALS."
