Excellent Net!,
January 11, 2013
By: EllenCO

"This is a beautiful net! It is perfect for fishing on the western slope of Colorado. I went with the 22" and it is a great size, just what we need. The net is the best out there. The rubber is easy on flies and the wood is great. Also, the monogramming option makes a new net look like a classic piece."

"Very attractive net but it's a little heavy for long term carrying. Find a lighter netting with similar characteristics."

A must have,

"I bought the Brodin Ghost Net as a Father's Day present to myself. Having put it to use, I could not be happier with my selection. Apart from not having to deal fly snags in the netting, this product allows for a seamless release (the fish can often swim out unassisted). Sure the price might dissuade some, but for those of us that have had to cut flies out of a cloth net, it's well worth the spend to switch to a Ghost. And hey, this gift sure beats another tie on Father's Day!"

"I have the 24' and it is the perfect size and shape for trout. The rubber netting works so much better than the standard threaded nets. No more wasting time with snagged flies!"

"I have used this net for two seasons. Fish do not 'see it coming' and landing is easier. Hooks do not get caught it the net bag. I fish barbless, often the hook comes out in the net.
The rubber mesh is very easy on the fish, I put the handle between my knees and the fish can stay submerged while I get my camera ready. Then I can take a picture of the fish without subjecting it to extra handling. I recently ordered the magnetic release cord to go with it, I'll review that once I try it. The one drawback with this net is the shallow bag, I have had active fish jump out of the bag. Since I release all my fish that's not a big issue.

"Before I used this net I used to assume that all nets were basically the same. Catch and Release without harming the fish is a priority to me, and this net gets it done with ease. The design and craftsmanship of the Brodin Ghost rubber net make it stand above all others."

Great Net!,

"Very lightweight, looks classy, and the ghost netting seems to keep the slime on the trout. Worth the extra dollars for sure. I have the short 22" and its plenty of net for every river trout fisherman who wades. I would probably go with the longer handle for boat use."

Fantastic Net,

"I have the 24" net and it has both quality and technology that justifies the price. Besides the gorgeous frame, the net material is extremely soft, allowing for significantly reduced hassles getting flies un-stuck from the netting and being much easier on fish. This means more healthy fish are released back into the water for all to enjoy."

Beautiful Workmanship,
February 17, 2012
By: redoctober

"A few years ago my wife gave me the 24" net and I've always thought is was a beautiful piece of craftmanship that I never would have treated myself to. When a colleague who spends part ot the summer fishing in Montana retired, we were trying to think of an appropriate gift, I suggested the same net, which everyone agreed was a great gift for him. We had it personalized with his initials and presented it at his retirement party. He was delighted as were we. Not only is it beautiful, its very functional too. If you get it personalized, make sure you allow extra time from when you order it to when you need it."

"The Brodin Catch & Release Ghost Rubber Net is well-designed and of good quality. I have had some hit and miss experiences with previous Orvis purchases, but this product is worth the premium price versus other, less expensive nets; and the Orvis guarantee is tough to beat."

"I use the 24 inch net. Easy to carry, but due to oblong shape, it actually makes landing a larger fish much easier.
The net is very durable and is now in season 3.

"Most of my fly fishing is in New Mexico and Colorado where we fish with a dropper. After years of fishing with a classic net I was tired of spending so much time trying to unhook my flies from a classic net. Since I have purchased the Brodin catch and release rubber net I no longer spend time trying to untangle my rig from the net. Wish I had made the switch years ago."

"I am concerned about its durability. I have used this net less than 15 times and it appears that the lamination between the wooden layers at the top of the net are separating. I am very concerned what will happen with the lamination in the future as it is exposed to more water. I would hope that when I pay for a +$100 net that it would last more than one season."

"I purchased the Cutthroat model direct from Brodin before Orvis carried these nets, and I will never fish with another net. The handle and bow are very strong, but still lightweight and the large bow makes landing fish easier for me and the fish. I have had fish turn around and swim back into the net after being released - they can't get enough of it!
In addition to fly fishing, I will toss small debarbed spinners for trout (blasphemy, I know) and since carrying this net I have never had to pick a hook - single or treble - out of the bag.
I gave 4/5 stars for "Features" for two small reasons:
1) The ghost nets are available only in teak, which is probably related to strength: weight ratio, now that I think about it.....
2) I would like to see an option for an "upright" installation kit from the factory. I think that many (or at least some) anglers would pay a little extra to have their new nets fitted with some sort of hook/eye/loop without having to order or purchase the item separately.

"Might seem like overkill at first, but it can save you a catch in a heart beat and saves more fish. I use it with the Original Magnetic Net Holder (which also works perfectly). I have the 24" slimmer version. Flies don't get caught in the net (had that problem), which saves the net and flies. Some will argue that no net is best, but I disagree. Brodin makes a high quality product. Some folks take out the attachment hook from the handle and move to the head. I might try that but haven't really had a reason to."

"I have always wrestled with the idea of carrying a net on the river. After watching a fellow fisherman use the 24" bow, I decided it was time for me to get one. This net works awesome for a quick catch and release. Excellent quality and pretty light weight. I would strongly recommend this product."
