Beautiful Design/Wide Last,
May 20, 2013
By: LostEnglishman
from Evergreen, CO
"Beautiful workmanship and design but way too wide. Even a half size-down didn't work. We liked these shoes so much we investigated them on the manufacturers site and discovered that this style is made on Locke wide last. A similar version, made on a standard last, had a leather sole vs. the rugged one seen here. Very disappointing since they are exactly what we were looking for. but they were never going to fit."

I've bought 2 pair,

By: Sifu

"Very comfortable, well made shoes. The sizing is accurate, and they look great with a tweed suit. I've got 2 pair now, purchased a year apart, and the broken in older pair with steady use don't look all that different than the new pair..."

Style and Craftsmanship,
January 25, 2013
By: DapperRogue
from San Jose, California
"I have had my eyes on these boots for some time and finally decided to take the plunge. While certainly the most money I have ever spent on shoes, when I considered their being handmade and the linage of the company, I felt it was a good purchase. After wearing them, I could not be more satisfied. They go perfectly with my gray flannel trousers as they do with my blue jeans. I did call and confirm that the size listed by Orvis is in the U.S. measurement as opposed to the U.K., so order what your size as you normally would."

major disappointment,
January 23, 2013
By: Woodeye
from Murrieta, CA
"By all appearances, this is a beautiful boot. However, this boot is extremely uncomfortable. Taking into consideration that this is a new boot, I sincerely hope that with wear, they will break in and become soft and comfortable. Nonetheless, for the price of this product, I truly expected a higher degree of comfort."

Great but sizing a problem,
December 10, 2012
By: Teleskier
"I bought these boots after lots of research. The boots are magnificent, leather supple, excellent craftsmanship, exquisite style. After reading two-year-old reviews I decided to buy the US size 9 1/2 for my 10 1/2 feet. Sure customer service assured me that the boots came in US sizes, rather than UK sizes. But i had my doubts. When they arrived I was pleasantly surprised that the boots perfectly. What shocked me was that the box from Loake said US size 9 1/2. What shocked me even more is that the boots say size 8 1/2 inside them. So, the problem is not incorrect sizing by Orvis, but incorrect sizing by Loake. If I had ordered my true size, I would have ended up with one full size too large. I'm very happy with my purchase, but I don't know what size to order for my next boots from Loake, until this problem is addressed."
