Nice Jacket,

"Yes the cost seems high for a light jacket but comparing it to other brands with the same quality as Orvis they all run about the same.
If you are a large go with an XL and just keep in mind that it is a FLy Fishing Jacket and it is designed to be a little short to keep it from getting wet when in the river.

A Very Nice Jacket,
March 13, 2013
By: DCCustomer

"I purchased Orvis's Canyon Windbreaker a few days ago and it arrived today. This is a very nice jacket...perhaps a little expensive...but a nice jacket nonetheless.
Several reviewers have commented that the jacket is short and fits a bit oddly.
This is absolutely true, but I think I figured out why.
Though it was not marketed as such (at least in the catalog I received): This is a fly fishing jacket, and is designed to be worn with waders.
When I pulled it from the plastic wrapping, my first thought was..."gee, that looks like a fly fishing jacket (because it was so short)." My second clue came when I read the folded tag attached to the jacket. On the cover it read: "Trout Bum." After opening the tag, inside the reader is greeted with: "It's about well-worn flies pinned to the brim of your hat. It's about trading stories in drift boats and dive bars. Its about being true to yourself as you lie about the size of your fish..."...well, you get the idea.
So, looking at the jacket, yes, it is short and boxy...short so it won't dip into the water when your up to your hips in a stream and boxy so it fits over your waders without being too tight.
Now, is this a bad thing? Some, doubtless will not like it. But, like I said, its a high-quality, good looking jacket. And, in my view, being slightly on the short side really isn't such a bad thing: the jacket is light, roomy, and comfortable and, for some, its slightly short cut will add a certain "je ne sais quoi."
Even though I'm not really a serious fly fisherman, I plan to keep my jacket."

Great but short,
January 19, 2013
By: Norm1
"this is the best midweight jacket i own...but...i agree with reviewers who said it ran on the short side. I'm 5'8 and 170 and the large fits slightly lose (enough to wear a sweatshirt underneath) but is by no means sloppy. I could likely wear the medium over a t shirt or polo. The L size jacket & sleeve length are great on me, but even on the large are such that if I were 6 feet tall they it might run too short.
So...great jacket if under 6 feet, and don't go down a size."

"I wear size XL in everything. The Canyon Windbreaker is sized way too small, possible mislabled, because it was more like a medium or large."

Great design, poor fit,
March 23, 2012

"From reading this jacket, it sounds great. When I spoke with the CS rep, she said it was cut on the "generous" side which is what I'd specifically asked.
What I received looked great. After trying it on, I was very disappointed Is it an item which can be used? Sure. Would it be an item I'll pull out of my closet regularly when the weather gets cool? No.
I'm 5-11, weigh 200, a size Large (16-35 dress shirts) and a 41R sport coat. The sleeves on this jacket are shorter than those of my dress shirts, and they (my dress shirts) come to just about the top of my wrists. When I raise my arms, the sleeves pull back on my arms a good few inches. The fit through the body on the upper torso seems a bit on the short side or are just perfect, if not a tad bit on the short side. In terms of being able to layer, this won't work with this jacket. I was wearing one of their washed poplin shirts underneath this jacket out on the Bay of Miami just this past week and it felt snug and was difficult putting the jacket on. You could NOT put anything else on underneath this jacket at all.
Now for what is good if you happen to be on the smaller side: The weight on this jacket is great. The shell material blocks the wind easily and the lining keeps you warm too. In the drizzle this jacket was a stellar performer too.
Unfortunately, I think there are more tall folks out there than shorter ones and I simply cannot make this a "go to" jacket. Good looks don't win over poor fit for me at all, so I likely won't be wearing this jacket as often as I'd like and will probably not recommend it to anybody that I know unless they're a good 3-4 inches shorter than I am and have significantly shorter arms than I do."

"The quality of the jacket is good but not sized for larger men. The xxl was probably only a large."
