"A few years ago Orvis changed the 'heavyweight' shoulder yoke from a double faced fabric to a lighter single fabric and increased the price. It was still a nice looking and fitting shirt so I continued buying both the long and short sleeve versions. As noted by a previous reviewer the neck loses its shape after multiple washings and starts to look cheap. I tolerated this as I was prepared to absorb the cost of replacement given I really liked the look until the neck got unacceptable.
My recent purchase of a couple of long sleeve whites really surprised me. The material has been changed from a solid jersey type weave to a kind of horizontal pattern which appears much thinner (but seems to weigh the same) and looks completely different and a bit feminine. The gussets under the arm are also much smaller. They do add an embroidered
ORVIS coloured fishing fly on the inside of the collar though!!
This is a different T-shirt. You may like it, but don't think you are getting the same product if you have bought one before. The quality is going down and the price keeps going up. At full price of over $70 this is getting to be a silly price for the quality."

"This is my 3rd purchase of the light heavyweight tee long-sleeve. Great shirt with one exception, after repeated washings, the collar tends to wringle and not lie flat... bacon neck."

"This product looked and felt good from the start and it lived up to its on line description. It is well made and very sturdy. The color may be a bit too bright and vivid as I would prefer a softer more muted yellow. But that is just personal."

"I own a drawer full of the old Light Heavyweight T shirts and love them. However, Orvis changed the material to some kind of flimsy oddly woven fabric that looks and feels awful. I returned my order for the refund."

"Own several size medium, short-sleeved, signature polos. They are the best polo ever! Recently purchased a light heavyweight long-sleeved tee (same size) and found it to fit much tighter overall than the polo. Size L probably would have been a better fit. Also, don't care for the banded sleeve. Workmanship, however, is outstanding, as usual."

"This shirt is both comfortable and great looking. It is advertised as "organic cotton"; however the label reads only "100% Cotton" so I hope it really IS organic cotton."
