We modeled this casual, unlined lightweight military jacket after a rare, limited-issue World War II-era US Navy deck jacket. The washed, soft corded-cotton fabric gives it the look and feel of a weathered favourite from the very first wearing. Distinctive gunmetal firefighter's clasps and storm flap conceal a full metal zip closure. Ribbed collar, cuffs, and hem. Two front patch handwarmer pockets. Military jacket for men in weathered navy. Pure cotton. Washable. Imported.Sizes: S(34-36), M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52).

I should have believed the poor reviews,
May 7, 2013
By: Pedro11

"The jacket, when it arrived, looked as good as the picture on the web site. However I should have believed the negative comments on the site. I bought the medium size as in all previous purchases from Orvis, which are perfect for me. However this jacket was very tightly cut and the fabric was also quite stiff - this feature was accentuated by the two front pockets and the overall effect on me was awful. It was sent straight back"

Great Coat--Reminds me of service time,
April 23, 2013
By: Cooperdog

"This coat is a reminder of time spent in the service. There was also a heavier jacket with a pile lining that was also very popular. I think I have seen that in your catalog also, Great buy and it fits well."

"Not a bad jacket not a great jacket would consider this for less money at full price you can get a better jacket for that. Quality compares to nautica polo something along those lines but price was double what they would charge for similar product."

Excellent Jacket,
April 9, 2013
By: coltnm
from denver, co
"Jacket fits well and looks exactly as advertised. Wanted a lightweight jacket that would wear well and this turned out to be the one. Breathes well. Claps are functional and stylish. Thicker ribbed cotton collar and cuffs look great but can add a bit more to warmth than needed on hotter days. Sized perfectly. I would have also liked an outside breast pocket but jacket is excellent the way it is."

A great spring jacket,
April 8, 2013
By: rmak
"I was a little cautious because of an earlier review saying the jacket ran small. Not true in my case. XL was a perfect fit. Unlined, but substantial canvas does the job for spring weather. This jacket doesn't require any pampering. In fact, it will look better when it gets more wrinkled and worn in."

"Great light jacket design if you want something with originality. The size was exactly as ordered (M) despite a prior review about a sizing problem. The color is a deep blue-gray, exactly as shown in the catalog. Pluses all around. All I need now is an aircraft carrier to wear it on."

WWII Pacific submarine Jacket,
March 11, 2013
By: frankie12
from Detroit, almost crumbled
"Both the cut and the material are outstanding. I like the heavy metal zipper and hook buttons which give a quick release. This jacket is used in the famous submarine Movie of "Run Silent Run Deep" in the sea bury ceremony of the captain of USS Norka. The stars in this movie are Clark Gambell and Burt Lancaster. Its music is by Waxman. Just make sure you wear this jacket while you are watch this movie. OK!"

"A comfortable jacket with a nautical style. I can wear it another month and will then look forward to October for Fall and early Winter days. Nice workmanship. I'm adding inside pockets that the Navy didn't have."

Great Jacket,

"I bought one of these about a year and a half ago. I liked it so much, I wanted to buy another, but they were sold out. I kept checking to see if they came back, when they did, I biught my second one. I love the zipper and buckle combo. You can wear it with just the zipper closed and the buckles snapped douwn but unfastened. In inclement weather you can fasten them in addition to zippering. Good for spring and fall as it is unlined. They tend to run a little small, so if you will be layering for wearing in colder weather, you might want to consider going up one size. I did."

Not Worth the Money,
March 6, 2013
By: donbo
from Long Island Motor Parkway
"I like the style of this jacket & I like the "Fireman's clip" closures. For the money, for such a small, lightweight jacket, I was expecting something special, but what I got was not up to the usual Orvis standards. It's fairly well-made, but nothing special. I ordered my normal Orvis size, which usually fits well, but this jacket is cut VERY small & would not fit. The two side pockets have a bottom that comes straight out. A small object (like a cell phone) will slide right out without obstruction. For this money, I expected a couple of interior pockets, but there are no interior pockets. Overall, this jacket is a poor value for the money. I'd like to see Orvis develop a jacket with the Fireman's clips, but longer, rain resistent, interior pockets, exterior pockets that don't let objects slide out, & true to the usual Orvis sizing."
"This is the very best coat I have ever owned for light weather. Fits well, durable, moderate to light weather resistent and built by Orvis, THE BEST ! Gets lots of comments as U dont see many like it ! Sturdy & made to last a lifetime, a tylical Orvis built garment, unlike the N-1 naval deck coat in olive built by another company.I had to put the money up for L / XL after I read the reviews & neither of those two sizes would even go on ! So I sent them all back for good ! Now it will take several weeks to get $500-600 back. NEVER will I buy a non Orvis built garmen again!!, But this wwii Orvis Navel jacket in blue is THE BEST !!!"

"Very disappointed. Sizing/fit was all wrong. Ordered and received an XL, but the fit was more like a MED. I have been a big fan of Orvis apparel because the fit has always been roomy and comfortable---not on this selection."
