"so, I am 57 y/o and have bought a lot of shoes in my life. These shoes look good but are way too narrow...they just dont match up to a typical size 8 shoe. So, i had to send back."

"I ordered an 11 size and could barely fit my foot in the shoe.
I've ordered a bunch of shoes from Orvis and you have to be really careful about the sizes.
They are all over the place.
This shoe looks kind of cheap when you get it. Picture looked great."

"Love theses shoes. But after wearing them for just a few days the stitching going up the back of them came loose. I contacted customer support and requested a return label 2 times and never received it, which is unusual with Orvis. I live in Roanoke Va. where the returns are processed and just never got it. I took the shoes to the cobbler and he fixed it at a price. Love Orvis but dissatisfied with this transaction...Will I continue to shop Orvis? Yes...Great store."

"High quality boot but I had to send back the first pair. Usually wear a 9 but the 10 fit well. A bit pricey but hopefully worth the $. very comfortable once I could get them on."

"These chukkas are of excellent quality, but they are entirely too narrow, as reflected in other reviews. I normally wear D width, but these just could not be worn, or trusted to stretch out. In addition the finish on the leather was very nice, but it was not oiled leather. It was lighter and softer than the picture or description would indicate. The construction and styling are very nice, but the manufacturer needs to complete some work on the material and sizing. Orvis needs to update the description and picture to reflect the actual product sent. I returned these boots, unfortunately."

"My wife and friends all asked where I had purchased my new Chukka Boots. The most common comment was "I haven't seen them in years!" These boot/shoes are comfortable and easy to wear. They seem to go with most outfits - from "bumming around" to "dressy casual." The fit is great, and I can wear them for hours. Recommended!"

"I was a little apprehensive about buying these shoes after reading some of the comments, but I am very glad I did. They are exactly as advertised in terms of color and quality. I have a size 10 foot with a narrow heel, and sometimes wear a B width to get slip-on shoes to fit well. I do tend to agree with other reviewers that these may fit a narrow foot better than a wide foot. They are a bit stiff out of the box (but not uncomfortably so); however, the size 10 fit just right and they are beginning to stretch and mold to my foot now after a few days of wear. I am very happy with them and would recommend them highly to anyone looking for a classic chukka/desert boot."

"Nice fitting shoes;good looking but they aren't really 'oiled leather'. They simply are a sueded finish lace boot.
They are just not what I expected and the first rain or other dampness will simply destroy their appearance. Will I return them? No, they will look good walking in a mall.."

"I received these boots for Christmas, and found them to be so tight fitting I cannot wear them. They look great sitting in my closet, I have tried them on various times with thinner and thinner socks but they are simply too tight. I wear a size 10 and this was the size I received. I can only assume the sizing is way off, or mine were sized incorrectly."

"Product is beautiful. Extremely narrow, even for me. Break-in period was tough on the heels, mine are narrow. Boot is already starting to lose glue hold and pull away from the sole. Manf. should consider sewing the last, as these boots have only been worn approx. 15 times, and in dry conditions. Way too expensive ($170) to be falling apart already. Please improve this product, as i love the boot and it's appearance; just not the level of performance."

"I'm between 8-1/2 and 9, but consistently 'D' width; I ordered 8-1/2 D. It seems a bit narrow for a 'D', but it has broken in well and is very wearable. Color and appearance are as advertised; construction quality is very good. Orvis' size guide use recommended. Recommend this shoe."

"college design major here, and with a little work this could be a masterpiece of footwear for men, classic and very handsome. Leather is nice. Think they are narrow. For me I like a shoe or boot that has a thick and heavy sole, this is a bit light. The leather lined interior support is nice but could be better with more arch. The worst part is a sewn in part in the heal, it is way too small and the construction is going to trash socks fast, maybe some tape or glue. Orivs you are close to something great, more attention to detail on this boot...I would gladly pay $300. An if you got these details worked out, it could be the greatest seller in your catalog!"
