Bluegill fry are a big part of the freshwater predator diet and they are often overlooked in the food chain of freshwater lakes and ponds. This is easily among the best bass flies ever designed. It's weedless and a great change-up pitch for big bass. Size 1/0. Length 3½".

Best Bass Fly ever,
February 2, 2011
"My fishing partner and I were at his trout club in southeastern Massachusetts, it was late May. Earlier in the day he'd twisted his ankle and couldn't make the walk to the Bass pond after dinner. As evening was upon me, I tied on the Enrico Puglisi Bluegill fly and was shocked at what happened. I've caught a lot of Bass on my eight wt. fly rod but nothing like this. I was in a rowboat and on the first cast to a Bass bed which I could see forty feet away, as soon as the fly sank on a four count, WHAM! a three pounder. Next cast twenty feet to the left, WHAM! another two pounder. As I was not familiar with the area and it was getting quite dark I had to leave due to the long walk back. But in the course of seventy-five minutes I caught twenty two Bass on this fly. It was ridiculous. Almost every cast yielded a Bass and the biggest one I caught that night was five pounds. Needless to say, as soon as I got home I called Orvis and ordered five more. To be perfectly honest with this story, I did lose two flies. One from horsing the fish and the other simple broke the tippet on a submerged object. Would I recommend this fly to anyone interested in catching Bass on a fly rod... on a scale of 1 to 10 ... 10 absolutely!!"
