"This jacket is wonderful -- very well made of quality material, finely tailored with a full lining, and fits true-to-size. The sage color is both beautiful and subtle enough to wear well with brown, tan, or black slacks.
I will confess that occasionally I am disappointed that a nice piece of Orvis clothing is diminished in my opinion by the brand name being emblazoned in an obvious fashion for all the world to see. Too many Orvis t-shirts that I won't wear in public because of this. I was concerned this jacket might have that same treatment but was pleased to learn it did not.
I wanted to buy this in a store but they did not have my size so I ordered it online from the store and received free shipping. Thanks for that, Orvis. The jacket arrived in short order, nicely folded. Five minutes in the dryer with steam relaxed the wrinkles and it was ready to wear. If you don't have steam, I'd suggest suck it up and take it to a dry cleaner.
Being in Northern Calif with hot summers, I'm excited to have this light jacket to wear and remain comfortable.
If you're looking at this jacket and are hesitant to pull the trigger, don't be -- I promise you won't be disappointed."

"Orvis are great. The tailoring of this jacket is tip top. The size is right too. I am a 43 and the telephone rep. suggested I go for 44 as only even sizes are available. Spot on-- surprising as Orvis is usually "generous"!
The material is lightweight, but is far removed from the picture. Far more blue and bobbly. Hoped it would be an English Country type jacket-- but not so.
Will keep going with Orvis-- they do have great products."

"I bought this jacket today at my local Orvis store so I cannot comment on how it will wear. However I can say it is beautifully tailored and fits well. Unlike some Orvis products the fit of this jacket is not generous and I would say its true to size and compares to Jackets made for UK companies. So if you are depending on Orvis' traditonal fit you may need to size up. The fabric is superb and the colour ( sage) is both interesting and versatile being made up of blue/light green and stone. This means it goes with most trousers. I'm looking foward to this jacket becoming an old friend."

"My only problem was with the color and finish. I thought it was not tailored enough.
I did purchase the same jacket in tan. No one will mistake it for an $800 silk jacket, but it is good value for money and fit my casual travel needs just fine."

"Very attractive, fully-lined, light-weight Summer sport coat, but it comes extremely wrinkled out of the shipping box. I tried to mist the worst areas with water from a spray bottle, but that DARKENED THE COLOR OF THE SILK !! Don't to that !!! I learned the hard way. Right now, it's at my dry cleaner to see if they can salvage it somehow. Film at 11:00..."

"I ordered this jacket at the local Orvis retail store. It arrived at my home very quickly. I really like the jacket. Nice material, seems to be well made. I love all the pockets. In my case the jacket ran a little large. Last fall I ordered a wool tweed jacket from Orvis and the 48L fit perfectly. So I ordered that size again. However, the 48L was to large for me. I am 6' 4" tall and weigh 235 lbs. But I returned it and exchanged for a 46L which fits just right. Thanks Orvis for making the exchange so easy and quick. Now if the weather will just warm up I can actually wear my new silk jacket."

"I liked everything about this sport coat except the color, which was a small hundstooth pattern in medium brown and ecru. The fit was exceptional right out of the package, the workmanship was first-rate (as with other Orvis products) but the color/pattern wasn't anything like the catalog picture, and I didn't care for it. I will look forward to ordering again from Orvis."

"Arrived in three days, as promised. Perfect fit, right out of the box. Light steaming released the wrinkles in the sleeves. Looks great! Even my wife likes it! Comfortable material. Well made. This is my dress jacket for a trip to Asia next week."

"I bought this jacket since I was having a horrible time finding a lightweight tweed jacket in size 54 locally. I live in a sub-tropical city and heavy weight wool just doesn't work 95% of the year here. This jacket seems like a perfect compromise between the looks of wool tweed and a weight I can actually wear nearly year round."

My experience has been that there

"I bought this jacket in tan thinking it to be the twin of the sage colourway. Well, they're not identical twins, but none the worse for that. The finish is a little smoother, and one of the interior pockets can be zipped up.
These jackets are great for travelling; not too stuffy for a beachfront cafe, nor too relaxed for a formal dinner. They are my summer staple."
