"Balanced" Outfit,
June 19, 2013
By: Alamocrazy
from California
"The "rod" section flexes and loads like a real rod. The cork grip is much too fine for the use, and the polypro "line" and "leader" give this practice rod the feel of a real line. The line is also long enough to give you tailing loops and get your backcast tangled in houseplants, lamps, and pets. But that also means you can practice reach casts, curve casts, etc. and it's fun and challenging to try to pop that yarn "fly" onto targets.
It just might be enough fun to make me a better caster.... Nah.

Cast anytime,
June 11, 2013
By: Surbitonman
from London, UK
"I bought this as a bit of fun, but it is really great. It really does help you get that real feel for controlling the line, even if you are just having a muck around it helps you develop better feel and control. I have been fly fishing for over 10 years and still found it useful."

Very Practical!,

By: nm1949

"Thought it was named Practicaster because one uses it to practice casting. Not only is it superlative at this, but it is also very practical! Away from water, there is no fear of soiling or abraiding an expensive fly line!"

Great practice tool,
June 4, 2013
By: Daiuy
from Maryland
"This thing is addictive! Once you start you won't want to stop. It is especially useful for entertaining a baby grandchild. You can practice inside without harm to knick-knacks and furniture. I find you can practice a variety of casts, such as roll casts and mends also. Great tool."

Great fun and practical,
May 29, 2013
By: Lockley
from Southern Louisiana Gulf Coast
"Using it to work on seated casting so as not to disturb others in canoe.
I sit on canvas camp stool that is approximately the height of seat and cast down long hall from living room.
Strange but seems to be working for me.

Fun Toy 4 All,
May 15, 2013
By: Neanderthal
from Puyallup, WA
"I bought a PractiCaster because I haven't used a fly rod in30+ years and needed the practice. It brought back the memory quickly and was so much fun I have ordered another one for a friend who is just learning. Best toy I have purchased in years, my dog hides when I start using him as my "target"."

Messing with the dogs,

"Great to practice the loops for a close in cast. Messing with the dogs is just a side perk. Surprisingly high quality for the cost."

Great for practice,
May 7, 2013
By: Minnesnowta
from Duluth, MN
"I've been using it for a couple weeks now prepping for my new fly rod that is coming. Getting the feel down of fly fishing and it helps to have a cat to simulate a fish on the line.
Really has helped with the fundamental side of fly fishing. All around it's offered a better understanding for when I go out my first time."

Great fun and instructional,
May 6, 2013
By: Anonymous
from Bristol, UK
"I had my misgivings about this as the 'fly line' seemed too heavy for loading the rod. However, it's really well balanced.
I don't really have a big enough house to use the practicaster effectively indoors but it comes into its own when used in the back garden. I can really work on my timing and accuracy with this terrific bit of kit. Roll, overhead and hauling are all possible with the practicaster and my 12-year old daughter's also using it to get a feel for the mechanics of casting ahead of her first casting lesson."

Effective for beginners,
April 29, 2013
By: Beasley
from Ivy, VA
"Requires very little space to practice casting, although not exactly inside the house. Easy to use and helpful to improve accurate placement of the fly.
The rod is nicely made. The line is a bit funky but seems to work. I'm going to substitute a length of real fly line to see if it has better feel. Price point in line with other practice sets.

Just take a look at the baby girl in the picture. If you love fly fishing and want to train your kids, this is all what you need.

Just Plain Fun,

By: Anonymous

"The PractiCaster is a really fun thing to have around the house and in the yard. I'm not sure if I can say it's perfect for casting practice but it takes the edge off when you can't get out and actually fish. I'd recommend this to others."

Teaching my wife.,
April 13, 2013
By: denmac
from Thorntown, Indiana
"Got this for teaching my wife to cast. I think this is her new Food Network. She is a great cook but her casting needed work. She is starting to get that abrupt stop on the back cast where she was letting the rod drift on back and I mean way back. I think the high vis line really helps her see what she is doing."

Best practice rod!!!,
April 13, 2013
By: Luthor
from Round Rock, TX
"This is by far the best practice rod I have found! I find that the line used for this rod is better than others because it is weighted like an actual fly line. Other brands simply use two different weights of yarn or other materials that do not provide a "true" feel of a loaded rod. It has improved my technique tremendously! I love it!!!"
