"We have a 10 year old beagle who was just diagnosed with disc disease - and we live on a 6th floor walkup in NYC. He's always been partial to sleeping on an old armchair, but when we found out about his back, we decided to get him a real dog bed.
I was a little hesitant at first - he's never slept in a dog bed before - but it came yesterday - and he took to it right away. Oh my gosh, the tempurpedic is wonderful and the material feels so good. He's been unmoveable since then - even sharing it with one of our other beagles.
Absolutely - it is worth every penny. I can highly recommend this bed for anyone with a senior dog."

"When I first removed this dog bed from it's packing box I thought my sixty pound black Lab (Shay) will never lay on a hard bed like that.
Was I wrong.....she loves it.
My wife and I bought a memery foam bed a couple of years ago and we thought the same thing.....too hard.
Like this dog bed once you lay on it and "settle in" your hooked.
Pricy, but worth it for your best friend."

"I knew from all the great reviews this would be great for my pekingese, specifically for the one with back problems. Even the small size was very large (4pekes could fit in it) and actually it is cumbersome. But I read dimensions so I was going with it. Neither dogs wanted to sleep on it. Perhaps because with short legs they had to jump up onto it? When given a choice between an old towel on floor and bed...they chose the towel. After spending so much on 2 beds I was very disappointed my dogs didn't even want to be in them. Even after 2 months they are not happy about sleeping on them. I would send them back but I had them personalized."

"We purchased this bed 5 months ago for three 45 - 50 pound Border Collies. None of them would use it at all until I put a thin, soft bed over it. Then they would sleep in it for a little while, then get up and move to another softer bed. The Tempur-Pedic foam is incredibly firm. We have a Tempur-Pedic bed for ourselves, and I know that there are many levels of firmness available. For any but a really large, heavy dog, or a dog that really prefers to lay on a firm surface, this bed is too hard. It is so firm that when a human lays on it, it gives great support! Also, when the house is cooler in the winter, the foam is even harder. We finally returned it and got the same bed with the Orvis Memory Foam. This foam is a little on the soft side, so it may not last as well, but the dogs really like it and will sleep in it without an extra bed on top. One last comment about the Deep Dish dog beds in general - as others have commented, there needs to be a size in between medium and large for dogs like ours. Listing the inside dimensions in the beds' descriptions would also be handy."

"My lab took a little while to use/like it. Now it's the only place he'll sleep. We've used it for several months now and the quality seems great - although he's pretty easy on it I.e. no chewing, scratching, etc. He weighs 50 lbs. We actually have two of these beds for him in two different rooms. The first one we purchased was a large - sized from the chart. It is really much larger than he needs. Our second one is a small and it is really plenty large. Great bed!"

Best Bed and Worth Everything You Pay for it!,

"I have a 10-year old Mastiff, Rocky, that weighs 130 lbs. As you can imagine, I have bought my share of dog beds over the years. I've lost count because within months, previous large dog orthopedic beds have gotten an indentation or worse yet the "high-quality" foam has disintegrated. When Rocky was younger and his legs were a little stronger, he would sneak up on our tempur pedic bed and snooze all day. Now has his own tempur pedic bed that he can easily lounge on all day and it has made the world of difference. He isn't as stiff when he gets up and he isn't constantly getting up all during the night to to try and get comfortable. He LOVES LOVES this Orvis bed and it is great value. I decided to buy another one for my one-year-old German Shepherd. I did the math and buying one of these makes much more sense that buying other beds that I know from bad experience lasts a few months or a year at best! The bed is also a good quality fabic and attractive, which is also important if you have to buy the biggest one! You will not be sorry you bought this bed ... you will love but more importantly, your dog will LOVE it."

"This dog bed is outstanding. I have two labs and they took to it immediately and they have stopped getting on the sofa. My labs are both around 70 lbs. and the medium size is perfect....in fact a little big. It is very comfortable and great for my older dog that has arthritis. I highly recommend this. A little pricey but so far, well worth it."

"We bought this bed for our 5 yr old pit bull/boxer over a year ago. As she has been getting older, she has become reliant on comfort. This bed has been her favorite since it came out of the box. Immediately after opening the bed, she took a liking. If it happens to find it's place on the floor of the living room, you might find yourself lounging on it too. The best fabric, the best texture, and superior comfort. This inspired me to buy Orvis seat covers for both our vehicles. We are looking to rescue another dog and will be purchasing yet another one of these awesome beds. Our one "gripe" the sizes run big. Since our dog is 80 lbs, we bought a large bed, as per the sizing chart. It's HUGE and could fit two dogs her size on it. Since she liked it so much, we didn't have the heart to remove it. I would suggest getting a size smaller and see how that fits your dog, and return it if it's too small. The pic presented was taken seconds after it came out of the box. She approves! Cheers Orvis!"

"The order came promptly and my Airedale immediately recognized it for his. He liked it right away. He does not like it ad much ad his original matching oval nest that he had had for many years. It could be more comfy if slightly smaller. And if unit had an insert cushion that had a Moore nest-able filling. I ordered the large for my 80 plus pound baby. If I had it to do over I would get the next size smaller. I did not have the heart to take it away to return it. Very high quality."

"We have an older Husky mix who has never really liked any of the various dog beds that we have bought her. As she has gotten older, she has developed arthritis and recently has started experiencing some incontinence. We brought this bed home and she loves it. It is the first bed that she will actually use, and she actually chooses it over the couch (unless she wants to lay on the couch with us). The bed is super comfortable....as another reviewer said, it is probably more comfortable than most owner's beds. It is super easy to take apart and wash, and as we have found out, it is GREAT at protecting against accidents. Whatever lining Orvis used on the underside of the cover stops any urine from getting to the actual bed. We just zip off the cover and wash...no problem. Very well made product.....we felt a little silly paying this much for a bed, but after a year of use feel it was worth every cent, and would do it again (but probably won't have to as it is as in as good of shape as the day we bought it)."

"Our dog has never been a dog-bed dog. He much prefers our queen. However, he got hit by a car and broke a vertebrae in his neck and was in a half-body cast for 3 months. He could no longer climb stairs or jump. We bought him this bed in hopes that he could rest his neck on the bolster and rest comfortably through the night. While the bolsters could be a little more sturdy, this bed was such a good purchase. He is fully recovered and as active as can be and he loves to lay on his own bed, even though he can lay on a human bed instead. I have washed it numerous times and it has survived the washing machine with ease. It is very easy to put back together once the case has been washed. Its expensive, yes. But we slept on the floor next to him when he had just been casted and I can tell you that this bed may be more comfortable than your own! Highly recommend. We bought him the large and he has more than enough room to stretch his legs and rest comfortably. Our doodle is very tall and weighs about 70# and the large works great for him."

"We recently purchased this bed in the Large size. Both of our hounds went to it and decided to share it when they are downstairs together. They do use it by themselves also though. Quality is excellent, design is excellent, without question, the best dog bed we have ever purchased. We consider this our two fur.....two dogs 55 lbs and 75 lbs can sleep on it together. Thanks Orvis! Very well done!"

"Our big handsome, Jack, is a growing boy with Newfoundland genes so we figured that we better get a bed big enough to accommodate him when he is fully grown. So, we got the extra large size. When the bed arrived, my boyfriend and I could not believe how enormous it was. Luckily we were able to find a place for it and our giant puppy proudly took his seat upon his new "throne." Great quality, attractive and comfy even for a human, or two...."

"I have a Great Dane mix :) He is my best friend. He begged for this bed. It came a few weeks ago and he LOVES it.
It is the perfect bed for a large dog pre-disposed to hip issues.

"My adorable 20 pound Shih-Tzu-Pekinese mix loves this bed. It took him little while to get used to it since he was used to softer, "mushy" beds but now he seems to really enjoy the bed....especially the bolster. It's a fairly large bed for a small dog but you won't mind it sitting out in a room since it's actually an attractive piece of "furniture. I've wanted to join him in a nap in this firm, comfy bed!"

"These beds are heavenly to have around for preschool grandkids to watch television, to nap or as an overnight bed. Once they lay down, they cannot resist relaxing for an undisturbed rest. No springs to jiggle and no hard floor...and as they are already nearly on the floor, no harm in rolling out of bed.
I purchased two of this type at Costco and if they were longer, I'd have one, too."

"Really the best dog bed we've ever owned. Our dobermans like to stretch out and this bed (large) gives them plenty of room. Our older dog has arthritis and the layer of Tempur-Pedic (which really is 4" thick) makes him very comfortable. Keeps its shape and looks great. Our dogs are used to sleeping on the couch, but they both really love this bed and are equally comfortable (probably MORE comfortable) sleeping in this bed rather than the couch."

"After getting through quite a number of various bog standard beds we were looking for a bed of quality for our 1 year old shih tzu, Haichi. He is fussy and tends to go off beds rather quickly to our dismay.
We ordered this bed after searching around and was recommended to us by a friend who has one. It arrived quickly (quicker than the estimated date) and as soon as it was out of the box - Haichi sniffed around it and promptly plonked himself on it and started trying out various sleeping positions !
Having eventually got him off it we placed in the room where he sleeps and at bedtime he went straight to it and went to sleep. He is fussy and we have found this bed to be sturdy, of very high quality build and material and the mattress is superb. We would highly recommend this to anyone with a fuss pot ! We decided on the medium size because he likes to stretch out and sleep straight as well as in a ball so this size allowed him to do both comfortably which were very pleased with.
Yes it is pricey but in it is worth it and when you look at the price of cheaper beds that fall apart we felt it was good value for money
and a product of high quality.
