"In 1996, I left the comfort of a desk job and took a role as a consultant - on the plane every week to multiple cities. As a present, my wife bought me an Orvis Battenkill rollaboard bag. What a treat.
Since 1996, I have been using this same bag to travel - weekly - and have taken the bag to 25 states and 20+ countries scattered across 4 continents. A rough guess would be that the bag has traveled 1.5M miles with me, give or take.
That, by itself, is incredible. But what's even more remarkable is that the bag is in fantastic shape...the interior is pristine, wheels are silent, handle smooth, and the exterior has only one small blemish to the fabric and a couple broken zipper pulls. That's incredible, given what the bag has been through.
I wanted to share this story and thank you for making a top quality product."

"Best Carry on bag around! I bought this for myself, and have since purchased it has a gift, twice! Its the perfect size for a weekend get-away and for carrying on a flight. Light and easy to travel with, and it really holds up after many trips- great quality!"

"My son put Orvis on his Christmas wish list. I thought the price was a bit steep until I saw the quality of the bag. I had his name engraved on it and it looked very masculine. He loved it. I hope to add a larger piece later. This size makes a great carry on and has an attached interior bag for small toiletries."

"I bought this bag for my husband for Christmas and he bought it for me! We love it -- easy to use, and holds just the right amount for a few days away, The only think I would change is the attached zip compartments -- I would un-attach them so the bag would close easier. All in all, we love these bags!"

"Bought it after my eldest son adopted my prior rolling luggage. Have had a great experience with the previous Bettenkill soft luggage and figured this would be in the same league. And it is. Lots of storage, the extension handle is longer and sturdier than my other rolling case and I'm predicting it will handle the stress of travel quite well. Looks great too."

"I have just returned from my first trip with this carry-on. It is light, strong and very functional. I was able to pack enough clothing for a three day vacation trip. I also enjoyed the sturdy clear plastic bag to carry liquids, no more worries about baggies tearing. Excellent product."

"Very good looks and strong construction do not make up for the fact that this suitcase is a loser. If you put a laptop in the pocket designed for that purpose, the suitcase is always in danger of falling over when standing up. Apparently, the suitcase cannot handle the weight of the laptop and will tip over with the slightest provocation."

"Warning: as of 10/12, the size info for this bag on the Orvis Web site is wrong, and Orvis service reps give out that incorrect info. I have the version of this bag (same name) from 2009 and wanted a second one. The Web site says this bag, which was redesigned, is 22"H x 14"W x 9", exactly the same size as the prior version of the bag (which contained a removable suit carrier). In fact, the new version is only 20"H x 13.25"W x 8"D. So I am returning it. The old bag is very high quality, and Battenkill luggage is beautiful, but the new bag is too small to be useful. Yes, it's lighter and fits better in overhead compartments. But it holds only enough clothes for 2 days (3 if you're a small person, stuff the bag until it's bulging, and don't need bulky winter clothes). Too bad Orvis no longer carries the prior version of this bag."

"I finally broke down and ordered this to replace the one I had used for years; it wore out after 15! It is like having an old friend back in the family. Great features, plenty of room, handle perfect height for me. I do wish the plastic bags in side zipped out and could be removed short of a surgical procedure. Highly reccommend."

"I have two of the Battenkill roll-a-boards plus other pieces of Battenkill luggage and brief cases. In general I have been pleased with the quality of Orvis luggage. My main issue is that the wheels have to be replaces after some usage due to plastic covering fraying and making the wheel unable to turn. This is quite bothersome when it happens on a trip."

"My wife got this for me (after heavy hinting) to go with my Orvis back pack. The fabric and zippers are solid. The wheels far enough apart to be more stable than others I have had, with fewer tip-overs on turns. The wheel beerings make it almost silent when charging along the sidewalks. The interior design is both user and TSA friendly. Size is good fit for overhead compartments."

"Orvis changed the design and construction qualify of the Battenkill luggage line. I was about to buy more pieces online to supplement those I bought a few years ago until I checked them out in the store. The inside is now plaid, and the zippers are much smaller (and nylon). The overall qualify seems to have diminished, although the exterior is still the same beautiful emerald green.. I would not want to exchange my older pieces for the ones with the new design."

"I ordered this carry on because I wanted to replace the garment bag that I used for short business trips. This carry on looked durable, was easy to use and had more than enough room for a two night trip. I loved it and was absolutely satisfied with it until I was on my return trip home and the leather handle on top of the case came off when removing it from the overhead bin on the flight. Since durability was one of the key reasons for purchasing this piece of luggage I was a little surprised. I contemplated returning it and going to another manufacturer, but have decided to give Orvis one more try so I have ordered a replacement and customer service was excellent."
