A timeless design rich in Irish heritage, this classic style is crafted in Ireland of the finest merino wool. Its multi-cable pattern finds its roots in centuries of knitting in small Irish fishing villages. Ribbed stand collar, cuffs, and hem. Deep kanga front pockets. In blue, oatmeal, green. 100% wool. "Love the color, the weigth of the yarn, the quality of the knitting, the fit. Living in Alaska, its cozy and warm without being binding. A perfect alternative to polar fleece. I'd love one in every color."

"I almost live in this sweater. It fits just right. I love pockets, and the zipper is a definitely NO PROBLEM zipper. My only regret is that you ran out on your supply so quickly...I would have liked to get a blue one but I took what was available and have NO REGRETS"

"The only issue I have with this sweater, and, it's with all women's shirts, blouses, sweaters, and jackets, is..It's too short. Would really like it if it covered my hips. It's also not as heavy as I thought it would be. I have been looking for a wool sweater for these cold and snowy days and casual enough to wear outside, will keep this one."

"I read all the reviews prior to purchasing and I agree this sweater is a winner. I also agree that the length may be tricky if you are tall. I am 5'6 and the medium was just the right length. The sweater is a very good weight- warm but not too heavy. I was able to purchase the sweater on sale which was an added bonus."

"Excellent color, quality and fit. Sleeves need to be an inch & a half longer. Sleeves run short, which I find with Orvis generally. I went on chat service to ask sleeve length before ordering and the length they stated was misleading and wrong. I kept it because its beautiful in blue. I'd order the green too if the sleeves were just a little longer."

"Purchased as a gift to replace a lost old favorite & is very close as she is very pleased! The front zipper, high collar & color are great & the slanted pockets better than the old favorite. Most of all, "I'm warm again". (her comment). Nothing beats Irish Merino wool !"

"I was pleased with this purchase. Although I measure a medium in the sizing chart, I purchased a small and it fits perfectly. It is nicely shaped, falls just a few inches below the waist. I purchased the green; the yarn has a very slight yellow fleck, a pretty accent to the green."

"This sweater is nice. The wool has a good feel. It somehow feels thinner than I expected but not enough so to actually be called thin, maybe saying the holes are not as tight as some Aran knits is better was to say it. The sweater feels strangely stretchy, so it doesn't feel like it's holding it's shape, but it is comfortable. I would say it runs just a tad large. It shows wrinkles when you've been sitting, and that's a little annoying. Overall I do like it, but I think it could be a better sweater. One more side note, it comes with this nice tag that explains the sweater's history but Orvis stuck a sticker right in the middle of that so I couldn't read it. I'm a sucker for an item with a story so I didn't like that. (I got the oatmeal, and it's a basic natural color yarn, I had worried it was more uniform and possibly cheap looking but it's fine. It does pill, most of my sweaters do.)"

"Loved the quality of the sweater. The green was a very nice shade and was like a green heather. Unfortunately, I did return it. I'm 5'9 and I found that the 24" length was just too short for me. Very disappointed."

"Thank goodness for a lovely, high-quality, comfortable, and well-shaped sweater that is also a traditional style -- I have a hard time finding sweaters like this nowadays. As another reviewer said, the color and the nuances in the fabric are even prettier than in the catalogue photo. Since I have auburn hair, I'm always on the look-out for beautiful green sweaters, and they seem to have all but disappeared. Luckily, I found both this one and the stunning, unusual green (sort of a dark sea green, as another reviewer noted) shade of the relaxed cashmere sweater Orvis also offers. I'm in sweater heaven, and that's very important here in Maine!"

"I was delighted to discover this sweater was much lovelier and richly textured than the picture showed. The feeling of the yarn is yummy! The shade of blue was also nicer. The fit was fine, but I usually like to order smaller from Orvis to achieve the fit I want."
