Wilmington Coverlet
With the invention of the Jacquard loom in 1801, weavers were able to incorporate intricate patterns into their designs. This advancement resulted in coverlets progressing from a simple item of function to one of aesthetic beauty. The Wilmington is a reproduction of a woven coverlet crafted in 1851 by Jesse Hart of Wilmington, Ohio, and features a corner stamp with an excerpt from English poet Hannah More. The original is currently housed at The Art Institute of Chicago. Fully reversible. In blue. Pure cotton. Washable.

"We ordered the Wilmington Coverlet because from the photo in the catalog it appeared to go perfectly with our home which is furnished in 18th and early 19th century antiques. The comforter fits right in and does not have that "made cheaply somewhere else look. The quality is great along with the woven material and color. It could be mistaken for a much older coverlet."

"The best way to say you like an item and want to compliment it, is to buy a second one. And I did! This is a beautiful coverlet and the reverse side is just as beautiful, thus making it very versatile. It is the usual high quality that you get from Orvis. The coverlet is very soft while having some body to it. The colors are wonderful and it is very comfortable to sleep under. One or should I say two of my favorite purchases from Orvis. Ordering and shipping was top notch from Orvis. It always is!"

"I have been looking for a period bedspread or coverlet to use instead of quilts in our Early American bedroom's antiques. This is just perfect. The reproduction is faithful and also of good design. I'm delighted with the quality; the size fits our queen bed with 22" mattress perfectly."
