"Very nice vest. Wears well and the inside pocket was a welcome surprise. It holds my I phone comfortably. Size is true. I have purchased other vests from Orvis and all are XL. Charcoal is not really the color. It is more blue than gray. Looks good with jeans. If you are looking for something gray this will not work."

"I'd been looking for a piece like this for years, and never found what I was really looking for until now. So, matched with a crisp white shirt, newsboy cap and worn, black cotton trousers I now have my early 20th century Michael Corleone, Sicilian peasant look. Received in excellent condition as expected. Both quality and finish of garment are superbd. I have only given this a four star rating and this entirely down to cost. Had it been priced £20 less it would have received five stars plus, without a shadow of a doubt. So, to summarise; an exceptional addition to my wardrobe, but - ouch - it was pricey."

"Orvis rarely get it wrong albeit did not publish my last comment. The charcoal waistcoat is not as it says it is, more navy blue. Superb product and well made i have 14 Orvis waistcoats but in particular wanted a charcoal one. It has not been available for over a year. Waited all this time you can imagine how really disappointed I am. Have kept it because it does work for me but it aint charcoal. Bit like opening a tin of soup and finding it is spaghetti. Still love Orvis product all the same"

"The picture of this vest is not what arrived in the mail. There is no cream or white colored lining of any sort. It is not charcoal in color -- rather it is a blah green. I am sending it back. I would not recommend this item to anyone."

"A nice vest for casual wear, or business casual provided you're in an environment that accepts khakis. While this vest doesn't have as many loops on the back belt as the Rancher's vest, the belt offers more adjustment than most other company's vests do. For those of us sans the "banker's belly" this is a nice feature. Don't let its casual nature deter you, it has a smooth hand for a cavalry twill, an inside chest pocket that can accommodate a wallet, is fully lined and impeccably tailored."

"The vest appears to be of good quality, but I will not be able to wear it to find out. Ordered it for my wedding, and the item I received differs significantly with the item as advertised. The "Orvis Item #" on the vest I received matches the number for this vest, so it appears I was sent the correct item.
Be aware - the "Khaki" color is a fairly dark green, and the vest is not lined with a cream-colored liner...at least mine was not. The color of the liner was a bit of a darker green than the visible cloth."

"After reading some of the earlier reviews, I was slighty nervous about my purchase but I needn't have worried!
The waistcoat is truly functional, light & partners well with a multitude of trousers & shirts.
Although only having it for a few weeks, it already feels well worn in & comfortable which I love."

"Of the 5 Orvis vests I own, this one is a failure. First, the lining is not the same color as the vest in the catalogue. The oversisized, dirty white wrinkled liner hangs below the level of the ?, what is it, blue vest and sticks out the arm holes. If I liked the color and material, I would have my tailor remove the lining. But the blue color is odd. I bought it for color. So, poor construction, a dirty white oversized, unattached liner that peaks out the arm holes and hangs below the bottom of the vest and an odd color. It will stay at the back of my closet. I'd send it back but lost the paperwork and discarded the plastic bag it came in.Cheap at $98.00 by Orvis pricing, You get what you pay for."

"I ordered the charcoal vest. It's a nice vest, but the color is more indigo / navy blue than charcoal. I've asked a handful of people what color it was, and all have said blue. Also, the lining of the vest is white, not the color of the vest, like in the product photos. The white lining can be seen from the edge of the arm holes when wearing the vest. I thought Orvis sent the wrong vest at first, but the product numbers on the tag match up with the numbers on the site.
It's also worth noting that the fabric + lining make the vest too heavy to be a warm weather vest."
