"The leader straightener was not of the quality i expected for the following reasons. The horizontal stitching is poor, the top half of the leader straightener is not concentric with the bottom half, i.e. when the straightener is in the closed position the bottom overlaps the top! The internal material appears to be over sized for the back, making it have a "baggy and rippled" look. Maybe I bought the new learner employee piece."

"I used the straightener on a tapered leader which I had left wrapped around a reel; it worked. The finer the taper, the more effectively it straightened the line."

"I leave leader and tippet on the line at the end of a session, storing it on the reel. Both can acquire a memory, particularly if I do not use the rel for some time, or if cold.
This neat little gadget straightens leader and tippet in no time, without the need to get friction burns on my fingers from pulling the leader and tippet through.

"I am not sure why I bought this. I have an old leader straightener that works just fine. I guess this one looks better. Maybe I just got tired of looking at the old one. I can't imagine wearing one out, so if you haven't got one, this one works fine (but so do the ones that cost half as much). On the other hand, it does seem very well made, and it says Orvis on it. I guess that's what i paid for."
