Jacket too small,
March 11, 2013
By: snazzypants
from Minneapolis MN
"Previously this year I ordered a red scrunch cloth jacket and slacks in xl. The jacket is perfect size and allow me to wear shirts underneath. So being so happy I ordered the XL black jacket and was looking forward to having another great jacket. The black jacket does not fit it is too small at the bottom to zip. I do not understand why one fits so well and the other is too small. I will be returning it and hope maybe ti was miss sized some how. I also have a yellow jacket being shipped and hope it fits like the red jacket."

Just What I Was Looking For,
May 1, 2012
By: SallyHP
"It's gotten really hard to find a basic jacket that (a) isn't a windbreaker, (b) doesn't have a hoodie, and (c) can dress up or down. This is the one that finally fulfills my wishes. The only potential downside is that it feels a tiny bit itchy, but perhaps that'll pass after I've worn it a while."

Very slim fit,
September 10, 2011
By: MyGalSal
from Denver, CO
"I love this jacket, but would advise that it is a very slim fit, particularly at the hips. I can wear a S top, M bottom (some are too roomy), but this M jacket fits just perfectly, no extra room, over a thin cotton top & slim jeans. I'd suggest considering ordering one size up if you want any more room or layers."

Easy Travel Planning,
July 20, 2011
By: Teddybear
"This jacket packs well in a small space. I love it for plane rides when the air conditioning blows on you, especially in the summer when you are travelling in light clothing, it pulls out of your carry-on easily and can be stuffed back when you arrive and used later with NO WRINKLES! It blends well with other clothes and is a perfect travel wardrobe enhancer."

strangely long sleeves...,

By: 1MoonhawMaid

"Surprisingly, this jacket fit perfectly...except for the exceptionally long sleeves. However, since the sale price was good, I felt OK having the sleeves shortened...about 4"...and minus the cuff. Otherwise, great jacket...great fabric..."

Need petite size in this style,
June 20, 2011
By: Look4me
"I like this material and ordered the jacket because another reviewer said the sleeves could be rolled up. (I wear a petite size & since this style didn't come in petite I thought I could roll up the sleeves which I have to do on many regular sizes). This style doesn't look good with the sleeves rolled up. The cuffs button and the sleeves looked too bulky rolled up. Otherwise, it has a nice tailored look."

Nice fabric poorly rendered,
June 16, 2011
By: Meridoc
from Warrenton Oregon
"I bought this jacket to go with the side zip pants. I love this fabric----it travels fabulously. The jacket looked good until I put it on. One of the many things I like about Orvis' clothing is that the sleeves are generously cut with built in ease in the width and arm scye. Not this jacket. The sleeves were extremely tight, so much so that they would "ride" up, wrinkle, and "boof" at the shoulder seams. In addition, the length was about 5 inches too long. Although the sleeves could be rolled up, the length made too much material to deal with. So sad."

"This'll be great for a trip to England this summer. I'll be ready for many variations in weather. The jacket is attractive and takes wearer into everyday, everywhere occasions--casual to dressy. Please consider offering this travelwear apparel line in more neutrals: eg grays, browns, khakis. It would truly span the seasons; and after all, most of us look better in some neutral colors than others."

"I bought this for travel this spring, and it fit everywhere except the arms were too tight. I replaced it with the short sleeve version, so all is well!
Also bought the 2 piece Scrunch Cloth Pant Set ( with long sleeves that fit great!) They obviously don't use standard sizing for their clothing. Pants that come separately (side zip) fit totally different than the ones that came with the 2 piece set.

"This is a nice lightweight, packable, wrinkle-resistant jacket, but it is not as useful for traveling on other counts. Instead of using Orvis' description, unfortunately I took Teni's 5-star review too much to heart. The jacket I received has two shallow on-seam, slash pockets not the two additional "hidden zippered pockets behind the main pockets" that Teni sites. I kept the jacket for its looks and packability, but it is very low on pocket functionality for travel. It would be helpful if Orvis monitored the reviews for accuracy."

"I ordered this jacket in sizes S and M as some of the reviews said it ran large. I did not find this to be so. I kept the M as it is true to size. The sleeves are too long though. I will either have them shortened or just turn them up once although this will spoil the button detail on the cuff.
I also bought the capris in this fabric.

"This jacket has a very flattering cut. It's a little shorter than most jackets (including, I think, some of the other scrunch cloth jackets here). It has pockets on both sides, but also has hidden zippered pockets behind the main pockets. These are awesome if you don't want to lose your movie ticket (or train ticket if you're traveling) while still having it handy and at your fingertips.
The bottom hem is finished, which gives it a clean look. The sleeve hems are not elastic, but actually have buttoned cuffs. This means you can wear it down and buttoned, for a very clean line. If it gets a little warm, you can unbutton the cuffs and easily roll the sleeves up. Some of the other scrunch cloth jackets have elastic sleeves that make rolling them up a little tougher, but not this one.
Finally, the best feature of this jacket is that Mandarin collar, that stays turned up. It really adds so much style to this jacket, giving your neck a great silhouette regardless of your build.
On windy days, you can zip this jacket up--all the way to the top of the collar, protecting your neck from chilly winds, as well!
All in all an excellent lightweight jacket that travels extremely well. While it's not waterproof, the scrunch fabric makes it handle breezes a little better than you would expect. I wouldn't call it a windbreaker, though; if the weather turns bad, you might do best to wear a warm layer under this.
As others have mentioned, this does run a little large, mostly because this is a stylish jacket that you can easily wear a little more snug than usual. Go on, show off your figure!
If I have any druthers, I really wish they came out with a variety of colors. Since it's such a travel-friendly cut, I'd love to see this in dark dark brown, dark dark olive, dark dark burgundy, navy, as well as a lighter ivory or tan. Heck, for springtime, this would look awesome in pink or light periwinkle, too!
Highly recommended!"

"I wanted a zip-up jacket for a trip -- lightweight, that wouldn't wrinkle. This fit the bill. My only quibble -- I would have preferred a bright color, rather than black. Can you offer the same thing next year in a hot pink or a bright blue?"

"The fabric and cut of the jacket are what I had hoped and expected. The jacket tends to fit large so I will order a small next time vs. a medium."
