"I have 2 cairns and we gate them in the kitchen. We had nice pressure mounted gates that worked fine but after I tripped over one and ended up in the floor I realized it was time to upgrade. I like the Orvis metal gate because it's easy to move out of the way when needed. I added felt feet and they slide easily. The black finish matches my kitchen hardware well. If we ever move the gates can be connected to cover a larger space( I bought 4 of the large gates). I can take them and store them easily when company comes over and the dogs have gone to day care. The only negative(and reason for 4 stars) is that when it storms one of my dogs can easily nudge the gate and come into our bed. However, neither bother the gate otherwise. These gates are a deterrent for your dog. If they jump or nudge then this would not work fly you!"

"This gate was easy to set up and fits in perfectly in the doorway from our kitchen to dining room. It is a good height for our dog and appears very sturdy."

"I purchased 2 of these gates because my 2 Havanese have a habit of going into off limits rooms and getting into forbidden things. They can trash a room in a minute. Plus they are very quiet about their adventure.
I have been looking for a good looking gate that is light weight, easy to move that does not have to be permanently installed. This gate far exceeds my expectations. My friends are very impressed with the looks and function. I love this gate!!"

"We use this gate to block our mutts from going downstairs. It is convenient to open with the hinge and the height is nice for grabbing it. We got the tall. It also discourages our neighbor's 70 goldendoodle from going downstairs! Our pups are each 15 pounds. We just finished our basement and wanted something dressier as a gate. Easy to put together as well....No tools needed! Looks great and friends even want to buy one!"

"I completely agree with the other reviewer. The gates are nice looking and a good weight. They are easy to move around, and keep our dogs in - but they wouldn't work if you dog is a jumper/noser."

"Very well made, and heavy. Black matte finish. I needed a gate to keep the dogs off of the wood floors. The gate sits on the tile floor in the kitchen. I put little felt pads on the feet of the gate so I can slide in and out easily. I have a big lab and boxer, that are easy going so they don't bother it. Not sure if it would work if someone has a jumper or a noser."
