Orvis Fatwood
Cut from the resin-saturated heartwood found in the stumps of ancient longleaf pines, our fatwood fire starter burns with a hot, aromatic pine flame that makes it perfect kindling for wood fires, whether in the woodstove, hearth, or campsite. Choose from a 15-lb burlap sack or a 30-lb. carton. Introduced in 1970, Orvis fatwood fire starter is earth friendly (no living trees are harvested in making it). Box measures: 9¾"H x 14½"L x 9½"W.

"You can't top Fatwood as an aid for starting fires. I would not use it as my sole kindling it's far to pricy for that. It is however a wonderful way to ensure that your fire gets started & not a bad way to start your BBQ either. Just convinience in a box, at least as far as starting fires goes. We heat with wood & this suff can be a lifesaver for restarting the stove @ 3am."

"I have been buying this for years, and the quality and value for the price remain exceptional. The fat wood works great to start fires, even wood that has not been fully seasoned--I keep this in the house next to the fireplace because the resin smells so good year round. I highly recommend it."

"I ordered some fatwood a few months ago and it was great. This batch of fatwood does not even light. The first batch of fatwod that I ordered would light with one strike of a match. This second batch is horrible. It takes forever to get it to burn. I am not sure I would ever order it again. You never know what you are going to get."
