"Lightweight and easy to attach this fly patch means I've stopped wrecking my cork handles and losing flies in my pocket and on the water. The velcro on the back stops the flap flapping in the wind."

"I've been looking for one of these to quickly attach to pack, wader suspender, shirt etc. The foam is hard backed which is good. The vinyl attaching the plastic clip should be more durable. The plastic clip itself is not very strong so it does not hold fast—it can easily be knocked off of whatever it's clipped to. I discarded the safety pin. I look forward to using the velcro on back to attach to Simms G4 wader jacket which has velcro patch as well as onto my Orvis sling pack. I would not buy again."

"I purchased a few of these and have cut them in half to throw on my sling pack and vest since they are quite large. They last quite a while, and the backs of them are pretty firm unlike other brands which is a plus."

"Bought as a replacement for the original foam patch on my Sage vest, this is a very useful substitute. It is slightly larger than the original but fits securely due to the hook and loop patch on the rear. The alternative clip and pin fixings mean the patch can be used in a variety of ways.
Why only four stars? Well despite its functionality, it's still pretty expensive for a piece of foam!"

"this is really inportant to have i used to throw all my used flys in any old pocket in my vest and i once lost about 7 really good flys when i fell in, this is a must have but i have seen some at stream-side fly shops for $1"

"As a clip-on or pin-on this product does not work very well. As a hook and loop patch it is great, but I had to go out and buy material and sew it onto my vest for it to function. Instead of coming with a flimsy pin and a plastic clip that breaks immediately in the cold, it should come with material for sewing the velcro. Instead of a plastic clip it should be made of metal."

"I actually have bought a couple of these patches.
I have them on my vest, chest packs and mountain river guide lanyard. It reduces the weight of my lanyard considerably. They can also be used for drying freshly tied flies.
I have a number of different pack options depending on the length of the fishing trip. I do a lot of Bonefishing in the Bahamas and a fair bit of hike in fishing in the Carolinas. Weight saving is a must.
This is one of the few items that comes with me wherever I go. Simple, lightweight and unobtrusive. Perfect."

"Nice size and weight. Plenty of room for a variety of flies. The foam is a good consistency and makes it easy to put flies on and take them off. The one drawback is the way it attaches to your vest. It could use some better engineering there."

"The plastic clip fell off before I ever used it on the water. Good thing there was an EXTRA LARGE safety pin. I promptly replaced the large sized pin to one smaller. Another modification that I made was to get some velcro or hook and loop and apply to the back of the fly patch. Then got some iron-on velcro and put it on flip out pocket of my waders. NOW it's a solid piece that I can actually use.
The foam is of good quality, which is the bright side of this item."

"My old sheep's wool patch needed replacement. The foam material iis superior to the older wool. It attached easily to my vest and was easy to custom fit. It holds the flies tightly but flies can be easily removed when needed. A simple product of high value since it performs its jbasic job so well."

"Comes with an added attachment safety with this big safety pin. I can see the idea but the safety pin could have been smaller or some other device. The foam does work well though holding flies from coming loose. Worth the money."

"Lost the patch that came with my vest and ordered this one. Truthfully I was expecting a cheap product.
Orvis outdid itself again !
today I went to a local pond to take my kids out and grabbed a fly rod and reel and tossed about 10 flies and a couple streamers on this patch. A pocket of tippet spools and flotant and such. I had a heck of a great minimalist day with this patch pinned to my t-shirt."
