Good quality, but didn't fit,

"The boots were made of high quality materials and the styling was as pictured. Unfortunately, I had to return them due to the high arch support that did not match up with the arch in my foot. The fit was also snug on my foot, so I would say that they are sized small. I wore them for only a few minutes until they became very uncomfortable."

"Softest, most supple leather uppers of any boots I've ever owned. Good fit, and, if antything, sizes run a bit large. Very pleased to have these boots and expect to use them as my 'everyday' footwear."

"These boots are a real treat, colour style softness and quality of the leather all excellent.
Only point to note is the US 11 is a very big UK10 more like 10.5 but with an extra insole they fit ok. They slip on and off easily contrary to other comments - yes the uppers are soft, so you do need to pull them on but they are not wellingtons! Very pleased great value and really enjoy wearing them."

"The picture of the Roper Boot in your catalog is absolutely not representative of this product. The tops of the boots are so soft and flimsy that they do NOT stand up as pictured. they actually gather at ankle like an old sock. Odd style?!"

"I read all of the reviews before I ordered these boots. As most reviewers said, the upper portion of the boots is very soft and pliable. I like this and have another pair like this and had no trouble getting the boots on. The color is also very nice and exactly as pictured and as described by others. The quality of the boots is superb, exhibiting excellent craftsmanship. The problem for me is that the boots were too narrow for my feet. I have been a runner for 45 of my 61 years and I have muscular wide feet. I require a 10.5 EE foot in a shoe but can sometimes get by with Medium (D) with boots because they often have more room. Unfortunately, these boots only come in one width and myt feet were cramped in the mid-section. The length was fine. I hated to send the boots back because I really liked them. The narrow width is the only reason I did not give 5 stars."

"I take a size 8 uk so ordered a size 8.5 because i like to wear thicker socks. Couldnt get my feet in past my instep. Reckon I should have ordered a size 10! sizing is well out, also a very floppy top part of boot didnt stand up like the picture.

"These boots are the most comfortable I have ever worn or owned for that matter. They are supple and the leather is rich in color and softness. The first couple of times you wear them you feel the quality and comfort. They look great dressing up or with jeans. Im very happy with them and hope they never wear out. They have no skid soles on the boot and you feel the grip when walking in them. Over all the best boot I have owned."

"These boots are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. They feel like soft supple gloves on your feet. Looking at them in the box you could tell that they are well made and have been hand finished. These boots will not need much breaking in because of the softness of the leather. If you want to treat yourself and your feet get these boots. They are beautiful and you will get many compliments on them when you wear them. Very worth the price."

"I've had HH boots before. These are a little fussy to fit. Perhaps because both the shank and the foot are very relaxed construction. Right foot fits well, left foot quite loose -- that's my construction. I'm working to adjust the left fit. Boot quality is excellent. Like the color. Heel is a bit taller that other ropers I own. No problem. Price is fair. Worth keeping vice returning."

"The Roper Boots are of the highest quality, softest leather available. The craftsmanship is impeccable, resulting in a product that is well-worth the price, The only downside is the stiffness of the sole, which could be uncomfortable for anyone (like me), with flat feet. "The boots had a nice feel. The color was true to the picture but I have a very high arch and I has unable to get the boots on in the proper manner. Other reviewers gave a very accurate review regarding the boots construction. I wanted to see for myself but ended up returning the boots. The just did not go on or fit comfortably."

"Once I recd the boots, I tried them on and was very suprized to see that they fit pretty well (considering I wear a 10 1/2 on one foot and 11 on the other. Short of me questioning if I should have went to the 11. I went to a local boot shop and tried on an 11 and the 10 1/2 was just fine. ( I might mention the inventory at the local boot shop did carry the same made boot but it wasnt at the same quailty. I would have given this a 5 star rating but the tops are so soft that they are difficult to put on. I am not overweight and am in pretty good shape."

"I'm a big man with a bad back and shoes are difficult for me to put on. I telephoned Orvis and asked the operator if these boots were leather lined. I was told they were. The boots are not lined and I have a difficult time getting them on. They have a high pitched heel. I was expecting a walking heel. I'm not sure I can continue wearing them without back aggrivation. They are a high quality,well made product which need more description."

"Just one observation. Why do you not sell size small. I am a medium build and weight 13st. and mediums in most things come too big! The roper boots unfortunately were a big disappointment. The actual boot was supurb but I couldnt get my feet in because the sides were too,too, floppy. Everything else - perfect."

"The catalog picture did not fairly describe the boot. The soft sock like upper collapses unlike the more rigid upper pictured . I returned mine for fear that they would not hold their shape over time"
