Hydros Redfish Line

A floating redfish fly line designed to work from a boat or while wading for redfish. Short, heavy compact head aids in making quick, accurate deliveries while moderate front taper turns over the leader and fly easily. The Orvis Hydros Redfish Line has a braided monofilament core holds up to hot, humid weather and offers maximum loop control and shooting ability.

biggest redfish I have caught,
October 6, 2014

"I used the line in So. Carolina and caught a large 33+ inch redfish. It was the first time I used the line. It was excellent in every respect. Very easy to cast and control. The fish took all the line and most of the backing several times before I was able to get him into the boat. Again, the line was excellent in all respects."

Smooth as silk,

"Lighter than air. This line performs so well , it ceases to be a variable in my casting execution. I enjoy owning several pieces of Orvis fishing equipment so I speak from experience when I say, "Orvis Delivers" ."

Best line so far,

"This line came prespooled on my reel as part of an outfit and I've gotten to use it on slick water days and in rougher water with a decent wind. It spools off great, highly visible and heavy enough with the combination of the rest of the outfit to give you good distance with the wind."

"Two things that standout before you even use the line. Proudly noted a product made in the USA and second the packaging is made from recycled products. The line is as smooth as the touch of silk and shoots through the guides with speed. Welded loop system is extremely durable I use a double bimini line to leader. I found using a single or double haul cast was very easy, the line would pull from the water with little effort. the feed back on line was strong and un forgiving landing big reds and baby tarpon are a joy. Best fly line I have used on my 9 WT."

Hydros Redfish Taper,
January 30, 2012
By: SurfaceFilm
"When I think of the new Hydros Redfish taper, one word comes to mind, flawless. Whether you are taking pot shots at fish up close and personal or spot a tail 60' out, they simply get the job done. They turn over larger weighted flies like they aren't even there, yet don't overpower smaller non-weighted flies. A perfectly balanced fly line for any situation you may encounter when chasing Redfish. I love the new coating on these lines, these lines are extremely slick and shooting lots of line is effortless. The welded loops Orvis puts on these lines are much better than any other factory welded loops out there today, the stiffness of the line does not change where the weld starts was the first thing I noticed and that leads to a more efficient transfer of turn over during the cast. I also really like the fact they put these welded loops at both ends of the fly line. A loop to loop connection goes through the guides much better than a albright knot connection does. These lines are rated as a warm weather line, which they definitely do not get soft in HOT weather, but I have fished them in 35 degree air temperatures and 45 degree water, they didn't get too stiff and coily even in that, which really impressed me. All in all, a very well thought out line that makes for the perfect fishing tool."
