"I've long been trying to find this kind of retro knitted polo neck jumper but being allergic to wool made this a surprisingly difficult task. Orvis has always been a bit out of my price range but this jumper seems to be one of a kind so I decided to splash out. Yes it is rather pricey for what it is but it is, undeniably, good quality and exactly what I was looking for so thank you Orvis."

"This submariner's sweater is cut to be roomy, warm and functional. As a middle-aged guy who is not too fashionable, it's nice to find a turtleneck sweater (a rarity in itself these days) that's not woven like a thigh-length tube top.
I like to be able to move around freely in my clothes, and have them perform the function they are designed to perform—keeping me warm, or cool, or dry, or unscratched.
This submariner's sweater is just what I was looking for, and proved to be very warm and cozy on a long horseback ride I took in upstate NY last weekend, when the mercury dipped to 27° and the wind was whipping through the trees."

"The look and quality of this sweater is first-rate, even if the price is a bit steep.
It has a great, broken-in feel from the start and is one of the warmest sweaters I've ever worn.
I'm not sure how cold it gets on a submarine, but this is perfect for fighting off the chill of Northeastern winters."

"Loosely woven, but substantial sweater. Was worried about the coarse weave being uncomfortable, but the cotton is relatively soft. Lots of small pieces of cotton thread flaking off upon arrival. Fits a bit generous. Am 5' 10", 175lbs and have a medium. If I wanted a less sloppy, more tailored fit, would go with a small."

"Classic turtlenecks are hard to find now, but I was thrilled to find one at Orvis at this price. It is a beautiful sweater made in the US and exactly what I wanted. However, Sizing is way off! I have over 25 sweaters from varying manufacturers, all XL and all fit perfect. This XL is really an XXL, so buy a L if you normally buy XL. I ordered it online, paid the shipping, and then didnt get reimbursed for shipping after it was not my mistake. Orvis should realize this sizing mistake and reimburse customers who had to make a change. Other than that...I love the sweater and Orvis and it's products."

"This is a sweater I always wanted but could only find in wool, a material I cannot wear next to my skin. The fit is close, neither too tight or loose. A fit I wanted and expected. The cotton feels comfortable to my skin and while being comfortably warm indoors it is not too warm as wool would be. This is the sweater I wanted, well made, stylish and the color shown online. I would buy it again."
