"Perfect fit and warm and snug - the ear tabs work perfectly if the conditions are extreme. Well constructed with soft leather that has a worn in feel to it. This hat will last me a lifetime!"

"I ordered the shearling ball cap from Orvis based on the great reviews other people posted. Unfortunately I didn't have that experience. When I received my ball cap I instantly liked the quality and feel of the shearling and thought it would stand up great to cold Montana winters. I tried it on and was disappointed that it was too large even though I used the size chart to make the appropriate selection. I reasoned that I'd be able to use some type of internal hat band to make it fit better so not a big deal. What did disappoint me, however, was that one of the snaps which holds the ear flap in place was broken and fell off in my hand before I could even try to work the snap. Also, there were several unsightly silver markings on the leather of my hat. Fortunately I was able to remove the majority of the marks with a damp cloth. I plan to use this product and imagine it will still work well for its intended purpose. However, because of these problems with the quality of the item and the premium price that I payed, I'd be very apprehensive to recommend it to another."

"Wearing it as I write! Very comfortable in 30's - 50's temps. Haven't tried ear flaps yet, but guess they would be good for even colder temps. I wear 7 3/8 (59) and the large fits perfectly. Comfortable to wear all day. Great fit and finish. Have received may compliments. Definitely worthy of the Orvis brand!"

"The cap is retro in looks,well- made and warm, not itchy. Haven't worn it in cold weather(below 0) but will this winter. Only complaint is that the hat runs a little on the large side as far as sizing goes. I like the short bill, it protects from the sun without obstructing the vision. I'm sure it will become my favorite winter cap. The sun never sets on the cool."

"This is a wonderfully warm and cozy hat, with unique head-turning good looks. It seems well-designed and well-constructed. The shearling fur is authentic, good quality, soft and toasty and extends throughout the entire inside of the hat.. The brim is handy on a sunny day and also seems quite sturdy. The strap on the front is purely ornamental (I suppose you could use it to hold your press badge), but adds a whimsical flair. I bought two for my friends, they liked mine so much. Not a bad value, given the price and functionality of good shearling. Attractive on both men & women."

"This is a good looking and warm hat at a good price for the quality. The only addition that I would like to see is a leather strap that goes over the top of the cap fastened to the snaps which could be swung underneath the chin to secure the ear flaps better against the ears when worn down. This would make the ears warmer in very cold conditions.Thanks Orvis for providing quality at a good price!"
