16 Hour results,
May 3, 2013
By: N73946
from North Texas
"After wearing for two days all is well. I wear a average size 10 and ordered as such. No problems with width. Snug fit at hour one. After two days the boots have molded to my foot shape. I was concerned with the many complaints about the large leather tongue. I find that if it is folded with equal folds allowing a center channel then it causes no ill effect. I would allow two days to break-in. overall a great boot."

Best ever,
March 18, 2013
By: Bbs987

"After searching for a new (more comfortable) pair of hunting boots, I ordered and returned some from another supplier not satisfied with the fit. I ordered these and decided to pay a little more to try to find what I wanted. Believe me, these may be the most comfortable boots I have ever put on right out of the box. There is some discussion in the reviews about the extra material in the tongue. I found it is easily folded over and allows the boot to be opened up and easily put on or taken off. In my opinion these boots don't require any "breaking in". I won't hesitate ordering another pair if I ever need to."

"Great boots, very comfortable. Able to be worn every day. There is some getting used to the tongue as suggested by other reviews. But all and all great boots. Will buy another pair."

Outstanding Boot,
February 21, 2013
By: HunterConservationist
"The construction of the boot is excellent. On my 1st time wearing them they did feel tight on my arch; I was wearing a medium weight sock. How ever after the 1st day, the booths quickly broke in. I did ordered them a 1/2 size larger than I normally wear as I intend to wear a heavier shock while hunting in colder weather. I read complaints on the oversize tung; I found it a lot easier putting them on; if the tung was any tighter is would be difficult fit. This boot is everything I expected especially coming from Orvis.
I am an upland bird hunter, hunting behind my German Shorthair Pointer and I look forward to wearing this booth
through early fall and cold Dakota weather.

"3 days of chukar hunting and half a roll of duck tape later (for an extra layer of skin) my dogs were howling for relief. My feet have never been so mangled from wearing a pair of boots. Go get some comfortable hiking boots and send these babies back to the drawing boards or else your dogs will be barking your entire hunting trip....."

Fit like Ronald McDonald boots,
February 16, 2013
By: llewellen
from Lake Orion MI
"Love the boots, but wierd fit. I wear a true 10.5 C. Width is perfect, but length is at least two sizes too long. When I walk the toes of the boots echo! When I tried to return them, Orvis wants to charge return postage. I had to talk to a hunting rep the next day who denied any issues with length and reluctantly agreed to pay return postage, but what a hassle! I have no idea what size to get, so will get Danner Grouse boots instead. They offer free postageboth ways and were true to size. One more point on shipping, $18.95! (and then Orvis wants you to pay return postage if fit issues unless challenged. Come on Orivs, makes it hard to buy boots mail order...."

Everything as promised,
February 14, 2013
By: Charlie9

"I purchased these boots for quail hunting in the south I have tried for years to find a pair that are truly light and waterproof to no avail. They arrived just in time as my first hunt was immediately following a 3 day rain. They performed flawlessly and I'd say sold another 3 pair to the guys who were trying to hunt in burly's. They perform as well if not better than described."

Nice boots,
February 12, 2013
By: sagedog
from Minnesota
"Wore them for first time today, very comfortable. Nice to see they are made in USA. Only one complaint, there is too much material in the tongue, seems to be made for someone with really fat ankles. Furthermore, the cordura lining is sewn to the back of the tongue so it is hard to fold the excess material over. Suggest use less material for tongue and eliminate the cordura backing on the tongue."

Comfort at Last,
February 11, 2013
By: OneWildBill
from Birmingham, Alabama
"Promptly received the boots two weeks ago and have had them on all day every day, beginning each day with a 2/12 to 6 mile walk/hike over sidewalks and roadways ,through woods and vales and along rocky mountain trails. No rubs, blisters, hot spots, never wanted to take them off. Ordered size 10 because I have always been able to take any boot, and I've had many, off the shelf and fit in a 10 D. They were tight when I put them on and I probably would have returned them had I not read all of the reviews about some initial tightness others experienced, but the longer I wore them the better they felt until I was satisfied with them.Having said that, they are just a little snugger than other boots I've had which may actually contribute to their comfort because my foot doesn't move around at all inside the boot. The tongue is bulky and frustrating to smooth out ,probably in part because of the goretex lining, though after extended use it settles down is not a problem. It just is not as neat as some would like. I like the speed lacing and would not have boots without it though I wonder why the top lace is a regular lace hole, not a speed lace. If you lace into the top holes you loose your grip on the laces and it is difficult to get them tight as you want. Not to dwell on it too much ,but it is the one thing I would change on these boots. I like the soles , they are soft and quiet and do not hold mud. I like the goretex liner ,though it makes the boots warmer and my feet sweat some after all day use. I guess that is the trade off for waterproofness. Have not been in water with them yet so cannot report on that ,though I have had boots with goretex that did not hold up to water very well. For that I have confidence in the Orvis guarantee, which is important to me. I will be writing another review in one year to report on waterproofness and durability of the boots."

Nice, but No Traction,
February 9, 2013
By: CentralILHunter
"Bought these because I was looking for a lightweight but well made boot. These fit the bill in that regard. My pair weighed 3 lbs 4 oz, and you could see the high quality. I generally wear a size 10 medium boot, and found that these were a bit snug. Perhaps a little break in would have helped. However, the out soles on these have very little traction for walking in snow, trying to traverse muddy creek banks, etc. If your hunts are limited to walking in the flatter, grassy plains, these would be great boots. But for going up and down hills in the snow or mud, I found myself slipping and sliding a lot. So, I returned them. Wish Orvis could make these with Kangaroo leather, but have the same tread as the Gokey Leather Wetlanders. That might be the perfect boot, at least for my use."

Size Matters,
February 6, 2013
By: Farhudfarms
"I hope this helps someone avoid what I am going through right now. I am usually a 9.5 in boots and shoes. Occasionally I'll get a shoe in size 10. I ordered these boots in 9.5 (almost ordered a 10 due to several comments about how narrow they are). The 9.5's look like they belong to someone in the NBA. I did a fast exchange and ordered 9's. They still seem too big. Enough that as much as I hated doing it, I just reordered again to try 8.5's and decide between the two Being too narrow has not been an issue so far. I am wearing light socks. Medium socks and the 9 might be the ticket. Hope this helps...if planning to wear light socks, you should consider ordering a 1/2 size smaller than you normally wear. As far as the quality of the boot, etc....thumbs up."

More than an Upland Boot,

By: SuperMAC

"The Orvis Kangaroo Upland Boots are highly durable and extremely comfortable. Great for stomping through harsh scrub and climbing rocky hillsides hunting for chukar, quail and any other upland bird. I wear them any chance I get. Even though I expect to get several years of wear out of them, I may need to purchase another pair in case they are no longer available."

Break-in Period,
January 18, 2013
By: Huntting
"Fabulous boots once you break them in. The are a little narrow for those of us with C or D widths, but the boots will adapt to one's feet quite quickly. I used them extensively last summer in SA, with excellent results over rather rough terrain (thorns, rocks, brush, uneven terrain) with great results: the boots are comfortable, light, and just warm enough to avoid cold feet or overheating."

"When i bought them, an Orvis agent sugested, to by them a size bigger BIG MISTAKE, now I'm at México with a beatiful pair of comfortable pair of boots that i can't use or return. I had to but the right size again, and ORVIS CHARGED AGAIN THE delivery fee. That's wrong the MISTAKE in size was because someone from ORVIS doesn't know the product enough to give recomendaciones of it and still does!!!"

"Bought these for a trip to South Dakota. Wore them for a week and was highly impressed with the fit and durability. When I first put them on they felt like they were already broken in. Probably walked between 5-6 miles for 4 days in comfort. Now that I am back home I find myself wearing them around the house because they are so comfortable. I highly recommend these boots."
