Waterfowler SonicSeam Wader

Hunting gear that solves problems are cherished pieces of equipment. The new patented SonicSeam® breathable hunting wader is just that. The boot is an integrated lace-up boot with a felt liner that keeps feet warm and is secure in even the worst boot-sucking mud. The boots have a speed-lace D-ring system that makes them quick and easy to cinch down. The boot features our exclusive EcoTraX outsole for great traction and it won't collect snow or ice like a felt-sole boot. The sole will accept our screw-in PosiGrip studs (2G09)when additional traction is desired in snow, ice or mud. The new SonicSeam technology eliminates sewn seams that can abrade and ultimately fail. Front chest hand-warmer pocket with zippered pocket for additional shells or calls. Wader belt included. In Advantage® Max-4 HD camouflage. Imported.

Waterfowler SonicSeam Wader,
January 30, 2013
By: DuckSausage
from Ft. Worth
"Great wader for all seasons in Texas! Just wish the wader were waist to chest, like the previous. The felt liners should be a little larger as well. Still the best wader you can buy, as well as warranty on the planet."

Wishing for a Stout Size,

"With my body size, I wish they had a "Stout" size available. I would buy these in a heartbeat if they had a size that would fit me. They need an XL Stout version"

Perfect Waders,
January 14, 2013
By: KYhorseman
from Lexington, KY
"I bought a pair of these in early 2012 when they went on sale after our season was over. When I used them this year for the first time, I was worried about the size of the boot as it looked HUGE on my feet. As it turns out, these fit perfectly and the large size of the sole makes them unbelievably stable. The lace up boots wear like bedroom slippers as there is no rubbing on the shins. I have walked miles in these in shin to knee deep muck without any problems. Highly recommend these as the fit is perfect and I can put them on in the house, then drive to my hunting spots and walk in easily. Breathe perfectly. These blow away the competition as I have tried all the big names in breathables. Thank you Orvis!!!!!"

Great product!,

"These are the first breathable waders I've owned. I love the fact that they can hunt early season cool and comfortably and late season you fleece up under them and stay warm and dry. The only problem I've had with them is the laces collect burrs. Nothing major. I replaced the laces with nylon decoy line. They are also more rugged than expected. Walking trails around trees to get to the blind doesn't bother them. I may never go back to neoprene waders."

Great Waders,
November 29, 2012
By: waterfowler541

"I have been trying to find a nice pair of waders for waterfowl hunting for a long time now and think I have found them. The sonic seam waterfowler waders are great for all day hunting, they are lightweight and comfortable in the boot. I would have given them five stars but I would like to see some D-rings on the front to clip on shell holders and other accessories. I would also like to see some padding in the knees. Still these are very nice waders and the Orvis warranty is good piece of mind."

No Good!!!,
November 28, 2012
By: YamaJet
from California
"Wore these almost $400 waders exactly 5 times, 4 of those time were boat in hunts with NO walking!! The 5th hunt( a 200 yard walkin) as soon as I hit the water the boot area in both feet leaked to the point of soaking the liners. Very poor customer service as they would not send me a new pair or refund me money even though they tell you 100% money back gaureentee.. I now am in the middle of duck season with no waders. Do not buy these!!!!"

"I was tired of leaky seams and having to buy waders every season so I bought these.
These are sturdier than other breathables and the boots are very warm.
I am very pleased so far!

still missed the mark,
October 26, 2012
By: Name146
"Felt needs to be sewn into the boot - the removable felt liners are a pain, should be able to slip on the boots with no effort. i spent nearly 10 minutes fussing with the liners before i finally got my foot in the boots. i didn't want to have this problem EVERY time so i returned them."
Response from Orvis:By Orvis Customer Service TeamNovember 1, 2012
We thank you for your feedback regarding the Waterfowler SonicSeam Wader. The removable felt liners for these waders are not sewn in for several reasons. Having a removable felt liner allows them to dry separately from the wader, and dry completely on all sides. We recommend putting the felt on your foot first, then stepping into the wader to put the felt in place. As always, we appreciate your feedback and offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all of our products.

Great Wader,
May 28, 2012
By: OhioDuckHunter
from Northern Ohio
"The quality of the waders are great. The fit in the boot is a little large, but is easily managed with the laces. The outer material is fairly tough. I wouldn't go busting through brush, but they shake off the briers. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good quality wader."

First time out-LEAK,
February 15, 2012
By: Flatts
"First time out with these waders fishing in the river in Feburary in MN I had a leak in both boots. Enough said. The boots are comfortable but the main feature of the waders being waterproof failed. Orvis offered to send out another pair but they are backordered until June. I'm sending these home."

"Just received the waders and they seem like they are going to be great. I would say the boots are sized big (for me a 10 is great and normally wear 11). Now I just have to wait until it's time to hit the marsh to test them out. Thanks Orvis!"

Impressive,
December 31, 2011
By: aklx3
"I liked the fact that the boots are lace ups and have been extremely impressed with the waders so far.
The sizing of the boots are off significantly, the inserts are a little too tight, and the boots are about 2 sizes too big. I typically wear a 9 and the size 9 boot fits like it is an 11.

"I used to utilize fishing wader for duck hunting, but weren't working too well, as you probably know. The felt on the boot collects too much snow. So, I am looking forward to this year's waterfowling."

The Solution,
August 29, 2011
By: dcgtb
from Washington, DC
"I have been hunting in neoprene waders for years now on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and haven't found anything that will work well for early fall hunting or those rare balmy days that can happen in December or January in the mid-Atlantic region. These waders are incredible. The weight and waterproofing ability is incredible. They can stuff into a bag to take up almost no room compared to neoprene waders.
I am 180 lbs, 6' tall and wear an 11.5 shoe. I picked the 11 shoe size in Large and so far, it's great.
There are also times when I want to go fly fishing or use my hunting waders for something else besides hunting waterfowl. Up until now, that just hasn't been practical. In fact, I plan to use these this weekend to go fly fishing in Wisconsin. Finally, Orvis has come up with a perfect solution to this age old problem. Thank you Orvis."

"I've been frustrated with Neo and breathable waders from several other companies and started searching for something better.
A couple of weeks into the season I realized both my waders were leaking so I ordered a pair of the sonic seam waterfowl waders.
Nearly 30 days of field use this season and I'm really loving them.
The mains reasons to choose these were the lace up boots that were intergrated with the waders and the The Orvis 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
I figured if I got them and they did not live up to the hype I would return them.
They look and wear like stocking foot but are boot foot.
I got the size 11 XLS Plenty of room for layering underneath.
We have had temps ranging from 18 to 65 degrees and they have performed flawlessly.
In warmer weather a light pair of poly pro and just ply pro liner socks and I'm great.
As it got colder I added both smart wool socks and sweat pants and then nylon jogging pants.
I have never been uncomfortable. I do want to get a pair of fleece wader pants before next season.
Hunting locations have varied from Boat Blinds, standing in water, shooting points with muck and mud and even a one mile dry hike to a wood duck pond.
The most unexpected pleasure of the waders were the removable felt liner booties. They are great insulators, comfortable and dry.
They make putting on and taking off the waders much easier.
Time will tell if they are really worth the money-I'll be using these fishing during the spring and fall."
