Incredible,
February 21, 2014
By: backing

"I own (now) 5 fly rods and 4 are glass. This rod is hands down the best graphite fly rod I've ever cast/fished! It's quick but you can still feel it load. It's accurate and light. Durability...well, we'll have to wait and see as I haven't had it long enough to give an accurate judgement on that. It is however the most versatile rod ever as I've cast 4,5 and 6 weight lines all with equal aplomb. And, yes, I would buy it again."

Superb Control,
August 27, 2013
By: Avonian

"This rod has excellent control, enabling me to fish at close quarters but retaining enough power to drop a fly deftly into the channels on the far bank on the Avon. From the moment you see the rod tube you know you've bought a quality product."

Performs as described,

"My son and I are getting time together on the stream and I thought to replace my old Orvis bamboo rod repaired too many times after a 35# carp broke it back in the 1960's. This Superfine rod is a near replica of the delicate presentation I found in bamboo years ago. The wife says I could buy alot of fish for the price but I respond the time with my son is priceless."

Perfect Trout 5 wt,
June 19, 2012
By: Michael1
from Germany
"I had the opportunity to fish this fly rod for 1 week. We have medium to small trout streams (6 - 12 metres in width) here in the middle of Germany, stocked with grayling and brown trout plus some rainbows. Plus a wild population of smaller browns. The insect life is rich like in some of the British chalk streams. The fish are educated if they survive the first season.
This rod is very accurate and forgiving regarding casting flaws. The flies are exactly placed where you want them to go. I landed a 35 cm brown trout on a 6x tippet with a weighted size 12 killer bug. The rod played the fish with authority without breaking the tippet. The action of this full flex rod is medium-slow. Casting is extremely comfortable. Although rated "Full Flex" it can generate some line speed that allows also for throwing heavily weighted size 10 nymphs. Dry flies are put with grace.
I found that 2 fly lines work perfect with this rod: 1. ORVIS Hydros WF 3D in 5 wt (generates high speeds) and 2. Guideline Presentation WF 5 wt (you load the road more strongly). The cork on all the Superfine rods that I had the opportunity to look at in Germany is not as good as what I have seen when looking at the same rods at ORVIS 5th Avenue in New York or the UK shop in London (do they ship all the second class cork to us?). I have noticed this with other rod brands too.
The unsanded graphite rod tube is made well but the cheap looking adhesive sticker (mine is not even attached straight) is not acceptable. The wrapping and epoxy work are good.
This SUPERFINE 5 wt 8,6ft is more versatile than a lot of the too fast rods on the market that some biased people recommended in their "5 wt shoot outs."
For me, this Superfine Touch outperforms them all. Try the rod. You will buy it."

Boosted my enjoyment of fly fishing,
November 25, 2011
By: SLeMANS
from Ontario Canada
"I have used my new superfine 865 for 3-4 months months now. What I really like is the light weight with power.
It gets great distance when needed on the club pond.
The full fex / soft tip reduces the bounce that one gets with fiesty fish.

Fantastic Rod,
July 6, 2011
By: Sesro

"I was a bit skeptical about purchasing this rod as it's a new length/line weight combo. for the Superfine series...I'm very glad I did. While I wouldn't go so far as to call it a full-flex action, I would say it's a soft mid-flex and holds true to the Superfine heritage. I believe this action gives it a great feel while maintaining enough backbone to safely play a larger fish. Finally, it can really put a dry where one wants it to go, but can also accurately place larger nymphs. I would highly recommend this rod."
