Let me down,

"I am a solid advocate of Orvis tackle having numerous rods of various models and weights, a lot of which I use to coach clients.
Last year my folks purchased me a 9' 8#wt. mid flex Access to go bone fishing. On the last day at El Pescador Lodge, Belize it snapped at the second section under tension whilst playing a small, but lively Reef Jack. Fortunately it was the last afternoon of the final day having seen off numerous bonefish! The rod didn't feel right from the off. It wouldn't cast and just seemed to lack any response when going for distance or hauling. I put it down to a one off faulty product. The good and important news is Orvis customer care was outstanding! They changed the complete rod for a Tip flex and this one is great. Well done Orvis for recovering the situation. I'm still on your side!

"Purchaced my accsess 8wt-9' as a replacement when my rod broke during a fishing trip last year. I purchaced it in a local Orvis shop in Va. I tried both tip and Mid Flex and decided with Mid. A bit heavy @ first.
But after pulling a few large mouth bass off Potomac river on some large size popper which I made myself :-); I do not feel its wt. any more. Then I took the rod to the bay. This baby handled 2 blue fish average 8 lb. each on popper like a charm, a 24 inch stripper and bunch of white perch. It was a GR8 day.
My #4 and #5 Access are being repaired so I have no choice to use this rod, and LET ME TELL YOU all you "FISHAHOLLICS" I am casting flies as small as #12 with this rod and catching fish. The Fish are smaller with this rod so not much work but It makes this rod a multipurpose. I give it a 7 Star.

"I had two of these rods in the 8 wt. and in two trips I broke both rods. Returned them to Orvis and customer support was great."

"After a few hours of fishing the rod tip section broke right in half. I give it two stars because up to the point of it breaking it was a 5 star rod. I caught 9 smallmouth and 2 sunfish on the rod prior to it breaking. I would think that an 8wt rod could hndle that with no problem. If I had to do it over I would look else where for a rod. The rod is being repaired no questions asked but now I have no rod for 3 to 6 weeks. Dying to go fish again. How do I know that the repaired rod isn't going to meet the same fate."
